Hello Ladies and Gents ..
I wanted to open this up in the message boards so that I could reach a wider audience.
Im interested in finding out more about alternative diets and what progress can be seen.
Ive talked to a few people that practice Veganism and Paleo .. etc.
Id like to breathe some fresh air into my friends list, new perspectives and helpful/supportive people.
If you have tried something and had good results, let me know about it. Sharing is caring afterall.
So add me, this is open to everyone... no judgement here.

I done both vegetarian and vegan diets. I am no longer either but I swear by my daily super green smoothie!! Add me if you would like!0

So what do you put in your smoothie Lisa ?0

Yes what is in that super smoothie? Add me if you like, I try and cut out processed foods mainly.0

I have pretty much tried everything. I have lost on eat to live (vegan) and I have also lost on paleo/no refined carbs, as well as 'eat-clean.' I found that the plan diet was the absolute worst ever. Feel free to add me, I have a blog post about the 3 diets I tried in 2013 and the pro's and cons.0

I have tried most everything out there including Medifast and weight watchers. Lots of stuff worked, but not long term. My daughter was diagnosed with Eosinopril Esophagitis, and we have gone dairy and gluten free as a family to help her. We have done the vegan/ all raw/ holistic stuff as well. I did not see a huge difference and it is super expensive...plus it is hard to keep adolescent boys on such a diet...LOL! So we just use common sense. No processed crap. Meat and veggies at dinner (mostly white meat...very little red and no shell fish or white fish). Green veggies in crazy amounts and fresh fruit grown locally (no pesticides or genetically engineered stuff). I drink only water...the kids still do sweet tea (we are southern)...but no sodas (gatorade for the boys after football games and practices). We also started doing some type of exercising everyday...even if it is just walking the dogs for 30 minutes (which really helps my jack russel calm down). I have started weight training at home (just simple stuff but already telling a HUGE difference) and punching the heavy bag when stressed.
So far I have lost 20.2 pounds since October 6th! And I am feeling beyond great!
Feel free to add me if you like0 -
Ok lets talk about that.. some people swear by gluten free .. others swear its a scam.
I know that there is definitely an increase in cost if you're eating that way .. but has anyone seen any real results from it?0 -
I have a couple of friends who had to go gluten-free because they are legitly intolerant to gluten and they found it extremely hard to find foods they can eat. They can't understand why someone would voluntarily try to eat gluten-free if they didn't have to. Yes, you are eliminating a lot of processed white starches, but you can still end up short on the fiber and minerals by avoiding certain foods. Also, when you take out the gluten ingredients there can be other ingredients that are added either artificially or which have hidden calories--just compare some items next time you are at the grocery store. The binding ingredients that gluten adds makes baking or cooking change, therefore the addition of extra oil or butter are sometimes added. Working for a food/restaurant merchandiser we sell specific cookware for gluten-free food prep for this reason. Does eliminating that piece of Wonder Bread help, sure, but the basic fundamentals of weight loss are still the same--calorie deficit and exercise. Neither one of the two people I know had any weight loss specifically from gluten-free, but I will say one lost a few pounds because she cut out the excessive junk food and didn't want to bother going out to eat if she couldn't enjoy most of the menu, which again points to calorie deficit.0

so in essence what we're saying is that there may be some benefits, but there are draw backs as well.
So other thatn the obvious calorie reduction.. what other ways can you change or normal diet into a power burn diet?

Does anyone know how tyo make fish not taste and smell so fishy?0 -
I lift weights 7 days a week, do very little cardio, take enough supplements to kill a small elephant, and until about a week ago was eating 50/30/20 Protein fat carbs, now im eating 40/30/30 but very little processed food (outside of supplements) and did paleo for a while, if any of that seems like something you might want to know about let me know.
And if your fish smells and taste like fish you either eat a lot of mackeral, or you get bad fish. Fish shouldn't smell that fishy.0 -

Complex carbs, protein, healthy fats, and eat as fresh as you can IMO.
As for the fish, if you are sitting with it on your plate infront of you and it smells fishy, its bad. It shouldn't smell like you just took it off the hook, lol. Try something more subtle, like orange roughy. Also, McCormick makes a great Grill Mate Smokehouse Maple seasoning that is marketed for salmon but I put it on other varieties of fish. Side note about seafood--BUY PRODUCT OF USA!!! Even though it may be distributed in USA, you gotta make sure its not originated elsewhere, particularly the Asian countries. Just google Asian fish farms to see why...0
