Krill Oil / Fish Oil ?

Wanted to start taking Fish Oil softgels along with my multivitamin every day for the various health benefits, but I was told (and have now did a bit of research online) that Krill oil is better, as it provides the same bonuses, with no fishy burps or aftertaste. Thoughts? I can pick up a bottle of 60 softgels of Spring Valley (a decent brand) 300mg Krill oil, for like $11 at my local walmart. I plan on taking 1 a day, so I figured I could swing $5 a month.
Any one take Krill or Fish Oil?

There have been a couple of studies linking high doses of fish oil supplements with a significant increase in risk of agressive prostate cancer. And most of the health benefits attributed to fish oil supplements are in doubt after follow-up studies failed to back up the claims. Fish oil from fish seems to provide better benefits than the supplements, which is leading some researchers to caution that it may not be the oil alone that provide the benefits, but the oil in combination with other things found in oily fish.
I'm not saying you should not take them, none of the data on fishl oil supplements (good or bad) is definitive.0 -
I would advocate against. Would you take a tablespoon of olive oil each day for its proven health benefits? You probably get enough fats through your diet fats and if you don't, consider eating them rather than supplementing your diet with oil pills.0

oh ok, maybe I'll stay away! Why do so many people take them? And in nearly every "stack" you buy from bodybuilding.com,they include these fish oils. If they were being shown to be bad, would they advocate for them =x?0

I don't contend that they're particularly harmful, although I'm sure the research is out there, along with them being helpful.
They sell flaxseed oil, fish oil, krill oil, they'll sell anything that you will buy. The more crap they can cram onto the label to make it sound attractive, they will.
But if you get a blood test from your doctor and everything looks okay, consider just taking a boring old multivitamin and continuing to count your calories and hit your macros . . . most of all, keep your money. :bigsmile:0 -

The media jumped on the early studies and touted the magical benefits of fish oil. People wanted an easier way of getting health benefits than eating right and exercise, so they bought fish oil supplements. Companies sell whatever there is a demand for. And they aren't lying when they research has shown fish oil to be good for X. They are just leaving out the part where it hasn't been validated by further research. Maybe some day it will be.0
