Compression Garments - Who Knew?

I was thumbing through some research and came across this gem on compression clothes. I wear compression clothing at times playing tennis because it makes me feel better. I always just assumed it was a placebo effect, but I will take the mental edge.
Anyway, this little study found that while compression clothing was not seen as effective in additional performance in sports, they did find a significant effect on recovery wearing it *after* competition.
"Delayed onset muscle soreness was substantially lower in the compression group compared with the placebo group, 48 hours after testing. Wearing compressive garments during recovery is likely to be worthwhile, and very unlikely to be harmful for well-trained rugby union players."
Anyway, interesting read.

The leading theory is that external pressure from the gear reduces the space available for swelling to occur within muscles, which in turn may lead to feeling less soreness. See also: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23302134

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3359771/ and http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3114606/ There are mentions of the inculcation of the Godoy & Godoy protocol which involves the use of compression garments among other things.

My daughter is a part of team GB (great Britain) and fights competitions often all around the world. She swears by compression garments for recovery and reducing risk of injuries0

I personally have noticed a HUGE difference between when I wear compression clothes and when I don't in terms of dealing with DOMS. I am kicking myself for wearing looser sweats when I had a leg day last Saturday, my legs are just now back to feeling normal. Even this morning things felt off, and I'm usually never sore for more than two days.0

These are based in England. But have shipping in the USA too. They are awesome to exercise in! Comfy too! I bought the knock off also. Not well made. These are worth the price.
