Hi! My name is Tamara and I've been in denial. I knew that my weight was getting out of control, but refuse to do anything. In the past when I attempted to lose, it's been a failure.
The final straw was at the dentist and I couldn't get my dentures. Reason why was my blood pressure was right at stroke level. I knew that I was always tired and had massive headaches, but didn't know it was that bad.
After I left the office, I went to a nearby park to walk. I cried and prayed to help me. Looking death in the face is a big reason to do right.
Since that day of September 19,2013. I walk at least five (some times more) days a week at least three miles. Some days I do four miles.
I never was a breakfast eater, but now eat mainly steel cut oatmeal, sometimes yourgart or two eggs. For lunch or dinner only chicken or fish with a turkey burger. I baked everything or eat it raw. My motto is" half the plate must be green". I eat Kale twice a day along with alot of other veggies. I only drink water or green tea once in a while.
I will admit that this board is going to be my support because I don't receive any at home. I hate to say that those around me expect failure.
It's hard and only one day where I went to cheat one meal.
While it might not be the best for others, for me what keeps me getting up walking and cutting back on my food is I remind myself when was the last time a guy asked me out, for my phone number, tried to gain my attention. It's been so long.
My goal is to get healthly and be able to do more. I travel alot and when in Peru in April, I had a hard time enjoying so much because I wasn't in shape.
I would love to reach 150, but that means losing half of my current weight.
It's a battle everyday which I will win! I'm giving myself until 2015 to reach this goal! I want to do a five day hiking trip of Torres del Paine in Chile in 2016. Any support!

Welcome Tamara,
I also had an issue with my blood pressure, at my last appointment it was in the normal range, so know that it can happen.
I think it is really important to take a good look at how we were really eating and not moving to see where we can make changes that will stick with us for life. Basically re-learning things. My best purchase has been a food scale, learning how to manage portions is really important. I try and eat a good amount to veggies and lean meats but I have to say I loath chicken at this point:laugh:
You have a realistic outlook with looking towards 2015 to reach your goal. This is a great place for support, I also don't really have any at home as well and reading the forums helps a lot. Remember - Failure is easier for others to accept! but try not to let it get you down.
Again, welcome and good luck!0
