The last two weeks have been the most eventful ones I have had in a very long time. On Thursday, October 14th my husband left Virginia on his 1600 mile trek back to Texas after his Army training. About 600 miles into the trip his "BEAST" of a truck blew a valve and cracked a head (I hate sentimental vehicles)! Needless to say, my son, mother and I prepared for the long drive to Georgia to pick him up. It took us 16 hours or straight driving to get to Georgia. Did I mention that I did the full 16 hours by myself!! Anyhow, I used SODA to make it through my day and a little bit of 5 hour energy along with that food you get "on the road". I didn't do well at all. After we arrived in Georgia things seemed to be a little bit better except that I was exhausted and we had to turn right around and start back to Texas. We stayed overnight in Mississippi and went to the casino, which was a little fun but still, I was so exhausted!!! After we returned home, boy did life get a whole lot better. My husband was home and I was so excited. Fast forward to today. I have been sick and not feeling well at all and now, I have to prepare to get my husband ready to fly out on Halloween for Germany. My weeks have been filled with Soda, fried foods and whatever comfort food I can find to make all these changes a little bit easier. Also, my husband and I have been arguing pretty regularly (we do everytime he is leaving for a long period of time). This in turn makes me want to eat more. Can we say EMOTIONAL EATER? I know that I don't need to eat or drink what I am but for some stupid reason, I just can't stop. My son and I will be leaving for Germany in a few short months and everyone I talk to says that everyone gaines an average of 10-20 lbs when they first get to the country because the food is new and sooooo good. I am scared to death that I will never make it back up on to that wagon. I need all the motivation I can get and am determined to log onto MFP and log my food daily, if it kills me!

    I am an emotional eater too! And you are going through a lot of stuff, but if you have to eat your comfort foods try to do so in moderation. Also, I eat nonstop when I'm bored or tired, so I try to always have sugarfree gum with me and I can just chomp on that instead. Just try to stay focused! If you eat well you will feel better. Good luck with everything! You can do it

    You can definitely do this! Just take one step at a time, conquer one obstacle at a time, and you will reach your goals in no time at all!

    I know all about emotional eating....you can do it!!! Think of these weeks as a blip in the year....not as a fall off the wagon. Start slowly and you will make it. You may find that you loose pounds when you move as you can't find foods that you like! That happened to me when we moved (however, I gained it back when we moved back......and then some....but it is coming off again)

    First, you have my sympathies. That is a lot to deal with! Second, I would suggest "baby steps" towards getting back on track. When I have my emotional eating days I make deals with myself like: I can eat as many veggies as I want, or I can eat anything so long as it has no dairy and isn't fried, etc. Do I eat perfect on those days? No, but I do manage to limit the damages some. Hang it there, it'll get better! {{{hugs}}}

    maybe try looking up german foods now and get a rough idea as to what you can snack on a lot and what to only treat yourself with for when you do go over there?
    dont stress too much about it though as then you will probably end up eating more than you would want to!
    I'd love to move to germany although im flying over in january to see my best friend so am a tiny bit jealous! hope it all goes well though for you all :)

    I am an emotional eater as well as a bored eater. I have recently started to run when I am up set. It works sometimes. I do eat my comfort foods sometimes as well. I have been trying to find foods that are similar to my comfort foods but with lower calories. Just try to find something that helps with the stress and the rest will work its self out. I know you can do this you just need to give it your all and ask for help when you need it.

    Get out and start moving! The more you exercise, the better you will feel (and great stress reliever). And the more you exercise, the better you will start eating!! It's almost a guarantee.
