Gaining with Insanity

I've been tracking what I eat on here since mid August and have easily lost 15lbs. 2 weeks ago, I started doing Insanity and have since gained 2 lbs. Most days I eat back a little of the calories, usually consuming around 1400 calories. MFP has me eating 1200 a day without exercise. I have about 40-50lbs to lose too. I'm just super frustrated. My clothes aren't really fitting better and I only lost 1 in of my waist. I was thinking this would give me a boost, but it's not. Why is this happening? I've heard all those excuses that I'm not eating enough, that muscle weighs more than fat, etc. They just don't make sense to me. I'm a math person, so if my calorie intake is less than my calories burned, why is the scale not budging?

Its pretty common to gain weight at the beginning of insanity, especially if you are going from having not much of an exercise program. You'll retain a lot of water to protect your muscles and your body is figuring out what the heck is happening. It will come off. Most of the results come in month 2. You've lost 1 inch on your waist in 2 weeks... that's fantastic. Get rid of the scale (only weigh in on fit test days), keep with the tape measure, and be patient (I know it sucks! - but I'm here, insanity x2 vet, 25 lbs down and a size 8 dress size from pushing a 16).
Good luck and KPP!0 -
When I did Insanity my end result was that the scale said I GAINED 10lbs but when I compared my before and after photos it looked as if I lost 20. Don't pay attention to the scale, it's the LEAST reliable indicator of weight loss success!0

One thing thats important to remember is that you're gaining muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat! Kick the scale a use a msasuring tape, that will give yu a better idea0
