Avoiding the Burnout/Overexercising

As I am sure most on here can confirm, it is a great feeling after you have worked out. There may be a little hesitation to begin but as soon as you get going, you are great! As someone who has a tendency to be a little OCD and overdo things, is there any advice that you can give me as far as how to maintain a consistent workout. Right now I feel as though I am on top of the world and could do anything. However, I want to be realistic in my approach. Yesterday I was so doggone tired, I literally passed out. I did not want to because that was my workout time. However, I realize that I have to listen to my body and that is what I did. I woke up refreshed and kicked booty on my workout. Maybe I just answered my own question....
....but any and all advice you can give on being consistent and REALISTIC in your beginning journey would be appreciated!

I think you did answer your own question. I work out 5-6 days a week. I used to pride myself on working out 7 days a week. Now I have an injury. I'm a runner so it's not easy to get past it. The best advice I can give you is that working out is a small percentage of the course. The food is the 70-80% game changer for weight loss. If you can't work out due to exhaustion don't worry about it, just kill it a little longer the next day. Listening to your body is key and you are doing that. Best of luck in your journey!0

Burnout for me is nearly always the result of undereating. If I am feeling lethargic and unenergetic, and I look back at my diary, it's usually pretty clear why - overtraining and undereating.
In my experience, as long as you're eating enough to sustain your exercise, you won't physically burn out.
Mental burnout is a different ballgame, and I tend to stave off boredom by (1) having achievable goals (which is why lifting is awesome; constant new weight or rep PRs); (2) changing things up - new classes, new running routes, new lifts, visiting a different branch of my gym, new routines.0 -
I usually try to work out every day. Some weeks i end up missing on Saturday or Sunday and other weeks I just do a shorter work out on those days or a few days a week I'll do about 25 minutes and the other days I'll go 45-60 minutes..
Listening to your body is key. Sometimes I just feel exhausted so I will rest or do a light work out (sometimes just cleaning my house to get moving warms me up enough just to do 15 minutes of intense cardio).0
