Aura Migraines

Does anyone experience these? I get them occasionally (usually when I'm stressed) and was wondering how you deal with them. I've taken Excedrin Migraine, but it doesn't seem to help much. Usually only about half of the time. Any tips for migraines?

I take a daily medicine, but it doesn't stop all of them. When I have the aura, I take Feverfew, at least 350mg (sometimes another dose later if not enough). It works better than Midrin did for me :) It's 'supposed' to be taken as a daily preventative, but I don't know about that. It works great as an abortive in large enough doses, and I think that's safer (since it's unregulated and all). Good luck!

I recently have been through "Migraine Hell" where I had either an intense migraine or auras daily from May until the end of October. What I suggest is to find a neurologist that specializes in migraine disorders. I say this because I went from doctor to doctor, no body knowing truly how to relieve my pain. Here is a link to help find a specialist near you: http://www.achenet.org/resources/healthcare_professional_search/

If you ever need to talk or have questions, feel free to message or add me.

    Best of luck

  • Thanks you two! I definitely am considering going to a specialist of some sort. I can not handle them anymore!

I used to get them regularly, and they'd always last a few days. For the last several years I've been really lucky and only get them a couple of times per year. I don't have them enough to do anything other then Excedrin and a darkened room, but I feel for you.

Look into Imitrex. It's a proven migraine drug. Script only though

IMMITREX! Salty_Sauce is right. It is the ONLY thing that works for me. Excedrin Migraine does nothing. My GP prescribed me Immitrex after years of problems and it is a life saver.
