My Aunt goes to Dr weighs well over 300#s. Cries to Dr that she doesn't know why she can't lose weight. Says all she eats is fruits and veggies. No sweets, bad foods ect. My mom is just like looking at Dr. not wanting to say anything. She is sitting there flat out lying to the Dr. but you can tell she genuinely believes what she is saying! Leaves the Dr. goes to directly to the Buffet sits down to 4 plates of meat plus sweet tea to drink. Not one Vegetable or fruit in site. Goes home and there are multiple packages of ice cream. She eats about a gallon a day. Plus all she drinks is sweet tea. Always has fast food wrappers but still dead pan looks at you and says idk y I cant lose weight! It is so frustrating. I want to help her but she is in such denial!! What would you do? Please keep in mind she just recently lost her mother who was also her room mate and best friend. And she is not 100% mentally stable. But damn does this frustrate anyone else??

Stay out of it.
Family is frustrating all the time.
People are frustrating.
There. That's it.0 -

sits down to 4 plates of meat
great protein intake!0 -
I know people who I can sit and watch down four or five alcoholic drinks at a time and then they tell me the next day they only had one. And they believe that.
Similar issue. Not much you can do about it.0 -
Know I don't.
Beat me to it :laugh:0 -
I don't no what's going on here.0

She's in denial and that's her problem, not yours. Like others said, there's nothing that you can do to help her until she is ready to help herself.0

Denial is pretty powerful sometimes.
I had a very overweight friend who complained about not being able to lose weight try to convince me that she literally only ate plain lettuce all the time. Like alllll the time. Then another friend staying at her house said in actuality she ate 2 bags of potato chips for breakfast.
So...it is what it is I guess.0 -
Denial. Admitting there's an issue is the first step to recovery from anything, and no one in the world can make her admit it. She has to want to change.0

I have a cousin just like that. Nothing you say or do will help them until they want to be helped. My cousin says she needs to eat all the time cause she is so hungry. Of course its all in her head. I can't exercise cause I'm too fat. Nope you can't exercise because you don't want to. Sadly till they man up they will continue down their own path of destruction.0

She has to help herself.
The only think I might suggest is giving her a food diary. Maybe she doesn't realize how much she's eating?0 -
I would say take a quick trip over to the general weight loss forum. There are plenty of people living this reality right now over there. May be good to see what others are telling them.0

I write and edit for a living and have done that myself. Sometimes the fingers work more quickly than the brain.0 -

way to point out a mistake I usually type faster than I think so I make mistakes often. Thanks for making me feel better about it. Because God KNOWS NO one else has ever done that!0 -

What if it was one of those 6-foot turkey sandwiches?0 -
Give her a food diary as a gift. Hopefully she won't lie on it to herself..0

True, true. lol
But she insisted it was a normal-sized one on regular bread. Now maybe she put 6 feet worth of turkey between the pieces of bread?0 -
Video tape her.
Upload to youtube.
Post it anonymously on FB, with her tagged.
She'll get it, or not.0
