Boredom eating

I find myself doing this a lot. Although, I do try to munch on healther items, I would still like to break this habit. I am 36 new to the area I live in, also live in the middle of nowhere. Therefore, I am stuck at the house the majority of the day by myself. We all have breakfast in the morning at 7 am then everyone esle shuffles off to school and work. Animals are fed and housework is done by 10. Which leave a lot of time for boredom eating. Any suggestions?

Get into some hobbies. Something that uses your hands. Try knitting while watching TV or starting a blog or journaling. Get into photography or cross stich. Find something to "do" with your hands where your mouth won't be looking for something to "do".
I know exactly how you feel. Boredom eating is difficult to shake!0 -
There are SO MANY things you can do at home when you're bored that are WAY more fun than eating. What do you love to do? I love:
Doing my nails (one member pointed out you can't put your fingers in the chip bag with wet nails)
Knitting and listening to music
Reading an engrossing book
Going for a walk
Organizing that cupboard/closet that's gotten away from me and donating items no longer needed (this can occupy 1/2 the day)
Catching up with friends and family online or over the phone
Playing with my dogs
Fantasy window shopping online for clothes or home items
When I'm struggling with eating at home, I remove from the house all items that are too tempting (better to not purchase them in the first place, but if they're already in the house, they have to go). I just dump them in the garbage. Better waste in the can than waste on my body. I don't feel NEARLY as bad about throwing away 'perfectly good' food as I do about EATING that food during a binge.
Hope this helps!

I agree with all the comments posted. I have this problem A LOT. I think a lot of my snacking is mental... I feeling like I'm starving or need to eat, but I don't think I really do. I agree - get a hobby, go for walks.... I find watching tv or sitting at a computer makes me want to snack out of boredom and maybe even comfort. If you get out of the house and do something, you'll often forget about it0
