Drinking and Weight?

Hi! I drink alcohol about once a week. I weigh in the day before and the next day I weigh in about .5 lbs. heavier or .5 lbs. lighter. I am not necessarily worried about this weight "gain" or "loss." But WHY? I normally have 2 beers or something like that. I don't drink and get drunk, etc.
However, it seems like two days later I "gain" about a pound. Why is this?
Also, how long does it take for weight gain to show up on the scale? Does weight gain always show up the next day?

The .5 loss can be explained by dehydration which alcohol can cause. Or it could have nothing to do with the alcohol and be hormonal/eating more sodium than usual.
It takes over a month for a true weight gain to show.0 -
Thanks for the advice! Any other opinions?0

Instead of weighing the day before & the day after why not wait a week then weigh. I find when I have a drink and I wait to weigh, all the normal fluctuations you get with alcohol and water retention etc sort them selves out.0
