Binge eating struggle

Over the past two weeks I've had 6 binge days. And I really consume a lot of food (probably about 5000 calories) and it has been more than 3 whole days that I've been clean. I am up 5 pounds since my pre binge weight still (125 to 130 at 5'8 and senior in high school) and I'm really really really upset and can't look in the mirror without crying. After my freshman year in high school and into the fall of my sophomore year I lost 30 pounds (138 to 108) and my mom told me I needed to gain weight (she told me up to 120 but I got up to 145ish) and ever since I started eating more I've had this binge problem that I never struggled with before. On non binging days I usually restrict to 1000 calories and I'm so frustrated with myself because I could have been back at my goal right now! So I need help with knowing how to move on past my binge and prevent me from doing this in the future. I'm so unhappy. Please help me.
Ps i have a therapist but I'm too embarrassed about my bingeing problem to talk about it out loud.
Thank you anyone who helps!!!

I have the same sort of struggle. After losing a lot of weight during the summer, I was too thin and gained a little back. But then I had horrible binges which I still have problems controlling. Now I'm over my goal weight (which is 120) and 130lbs. I'm going to try using this site to hopefully lose those 10bs and start feeling good about myself again Feel free to add me, we can help eachother out. Also, maybe you should try eating a little more (1200 calories or more) to avoid bingeing. I find I'm more likely to binge if I have restricted heavily throughout the week. I also can totally relate with the feeling of being too embarrassed to talk about bingeing. I feel so guilty and useless after I've binged. My family also seems to think its hilarious when I eat that much.
Anyways, I know how frustrated you must feel. Maybe we can help eachother out!0 -
Please talk to your therapist or if you can't talk to him/ her talk to your mom about finding a new one, preferably one with experience with eating disorders. If you need to say it out loud to a stranger first, you could try the National Eating Disorders Helpline (info her: http://www.nationaleatingdisorders.org/find-help-support) or talk to someone else you trust. Please just talk to someone.
1000 calories wouldn't be healthy is you were 4'8, elderly and on bed rest. At 5'8 and 18, it's bad news, and the binges are pretty much inevitable at that level of calorie restriction. I spent most of my teens obsessed with my weight and doing the bingeing/ restricting cycle, and it's heartbreaking to see other people struggle with the same feelings. I was never happy in my own skin, and stopping the binges and wasting away is unlikely to make you happy either.0 -
I am an occupational therapy student and first thing I'd say is don't be shy about it to your therapist. They can help you just be honest with them, they wont judge you, they have seen worse. I'm not saying that your case is really bad actually it is common so dont be shy! anyway for the bingeing problem, restrict your calories gradually. dont go sudden, if you do you'll be so frustrated0

Thank you all! I feel a lot better now knowing that I'm not crazy. I will try to bring up my feelings in my therapy appointment tomorrow.0

I agree about not being shy.
Personally, I found this video really helpful (it mentions a super helpful book).
