People asking "What diet did you do"?

So people will eventually notice you lost weight, they'll start asking "what diet did you do?" and when you tell them you eat clean and you workout, they'll be like "Is there another way?" or "That's too hard. I don't like working out, what diet did you do? I'll just do that" In my mind I'm like: Okay, thank you. I am happy that you are appreciating my results but this doesn't happen overnight, you have to work for it. Much as I try to open their minds that there is no easy way out, the just won't accept my suggestions and I feel kinda insulted because it's like they don't trust me :frown:

Don't be insulted. It's not that they don't trust you, it's that they want magic fairy dust that's going to make them lose weight without putting the effort in. When you tell them there's no such thing as magic fairy dust and they have to do exercise and learn portion control, it's not what they want to hear, so they keep pressing you to tell them how to get their magic fairy dust, rather than facing the reality that there is no magic fairy dust and they have to put effort in to get results.

I tell them it's not a diet but a plan. The CRIM plan...

    Calorie
    Reduction
    Increased
    Movement

If anybody asks me if I took any pills, I tell them that I take Advil if I happen to overdo an exercise session and windup sore. It helps me get back at it quicker...

The Push away diet... Just push yourself away from the table and stop eating.

To be fair working out is not necessary to lose weight, and neither is "clean eating", but I agree with gist of your post.

That is a good come back! people ask me that too. Motivation is truly a gift. It's the main problem of most people, it's not the excess weight at the top of the list.

I get this sometimes as well. I eat mostly pescetarian and a lot of natural food, so most people tune out instantly if I mention that and look at me skeptically when I tell them about counting calories via MFP.

When I told my friends and cousin that I was counting calories, they shook me off and told me it doesnt work... yeah right

I've had this happen so often. When I get the 'how did you do it' question, I always say I started by cutting portion sizes and walking. They look at me like I'm crazy. Then I tell them that I really got into eating healthy and a variety of exercise and I always get the same response. "Oh, I thought you had surgery or something. That's too hard for me." The only thing I can do is smile and feel a bit sad for them. I hope they'll get it some day. I know from experience, each person has to get their on their own.

TRUE. Motivation is something really hard to have. I've been there :( If i were you though i'll feel so insulted about the one who said he/she thought you had surgery. Lol I'm too sensitive I guess. I mean, i worked hard for it :grumble:

I've had this question more times than I can remember. I always tell them the same thing, no particular diet, just cut back on eating and raised the exercise time(truthfully any exercise is an improvement from where I started haha). Some people get frustrated when I can't give them a magic formula for success but to be fair, what works for me may not necessarily work for them,
