42yr old needing motivation

Hello everyone,
My name is Lea and I live in London, England.
I would like to lose a about 25kg.
I started putting on weight in my earlier 30s and was about 10kg over weight for about 5 years. Then I was put on medication which made things even worse. I have bipolar disorder and the mood stabilsers/anti-pschotic medication that I take gives me a huge appetite. So I piled on another 20kg in my late 30s making me a good 30kg over my recommended BMI weight.
This year in April I started using a fitday.com and lost about 7kg in the first 2 months of dieting, limiting myself to about 1500kcals a day. Then I didn't lose anything for the next 2 or 3 weeks so got a bit annoyed and gave up dieting in the last few months. Fortunately I have not piled back on all the 7kgs Iost but did put back on a couple of kilos. So now I have a target of about 25kg to lose.
I really wanted to post here so that I could get some motivation and inspiration as I find it can be difficult to lose weight on my own. Each day is a battle for me. I find it so difficult to not want to eat over my limit.

Good morning Lea. Don't give up. You have found the right place. Logging your food is a powerful tool for weight loss. Try doing some exercises. I walk. That's all I do. Most of the time I just walk in place in front of the tv. What ever routine you make for yourself keep it fun, that way you have a better chance on keeping it up. All it takes is being determined that you are going to do it know matter what. I've lost 40 lbs in only 2 months on MFP. If I can do it anyone can. Fill free to send me a friends invite. I will help you stay motivated with positive remarks. No excuses and take no prisoners!0

Hi I am trying to get rid of 5 or 6 stone not shore what that is in Kg so I stick to stones and pounds. I personally don't like saying that I am on a Diet I like to think of it as a life change IE a change in the way I am living my life for the rest of my life. I am 45 and in that risk bracket fore developing health problems due to being over weight so I am looking at it as a life change. I try to pick on fruit and vegetables if I get hungry in-between meals I am cutting out bread and potato's all together at the moment and cutting back on rice and pasta. I am all so cutting out alcohol for the moment ill probably have a glass of wine at Christmas and that will be the day that I treat my self to roast potato's roast turkey and all the trimming's. And then back on the road on boxing day. I fink that having others to talk to and get support from is a must to succeed and its nice to know that your not going throw it on your own.
pleas send friends request and I will try to give you lots of support motivation.0 -
Hi Lea I would be glad to help . Right now I'm on a leave of abscence from my job so I log onto my fitness pal several times a day currently. With that in mind if you send a message I should be able to respond relatively quick. I've lost about 20Lbs or 9.1 kg. Most of it on weight watchers but my fitness pal gives us a community that will support you on your journey without taking your money. I would still like to lose 45.5 kg or 100Lb. I know that's a lot but like yourself I want to feel better and sexy again. I'm 37 a married mother of two teenagers so I also need to set an example. Anyone wanting to know 2.2 Lbs is equal to 1 kg. We can help eachother as a community.0

Hello Sobeone,
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply.
40lbs in 2 months! Well done! Wow that's an inspiration! I'd be hapy to lose half that amount in that time.
At the moment I walk about 30 minutes for 3 days a week. I will try to increase that.
I will try to send you a friend request. Never done it before so will have to work it out.
Thanks again Lea0 -

Hello jerseygene,
Thanks so much for your reply.
25kg is about 4 stonesI think. I already lost almost a stone earlier on in the year but it's so frustrating when you "plateau" and then become discouraged.
Yes, I need to see it as a lifestyle change too because just going on a temporary diet is no good for me as I know if I go back to old ways the weight will just creep back on.
I'd like to cut down on carbs but it's just so difficult as I am a bit addicted to them. I guess I just have to change my shopping habits too so that I don't buy potatoes and such.
I will try to send a friend request.
Thanks

Hello Huskerm,
Thanks fo ryour reply.
Well done on losing the 20lbs!
I've thought about weightwatchers but then thought that I could do this with MFP rather than paying for the service.
I will try to send a friend request.
Thanks again
