Restaurant meal

What would be a healthy food choice from this restaurant? I figure if I make the food choice now, Friday will be an easy decision.
The bad girl in me wants the fried shrimp! But that's not gonna happen!

You may have to keep a couple things in mind and ask about them when you get there. A lot of the entrees don't say how they're prepared. What is the Scottish salmon? If it's loaded with a heavy sauce it could ruin what's healthy about it.
My best restaurant tricks are to get the sauce on the side and to get double veg. You can still enjoy the sauce they serve but at a much more reasonable volume. When they offer a starch and vegetables I ask them to double the vegetables. Also, no eating the table bread. That one's my hardest to stick with.0 -
Agree with above, or the grilled chicken salad w/ dressing on the side. If you do get the salmon, you could ask them to go light on the butter/oil.
Wonder what the voodoo scallops are, but if they're just scallops you could have them with the side salad.
The "pecan" sauce sounds soooo good. The menu made me hungry haha.0 -
Steak looks good, with double veggies....or plain baked potato if they can do that for you.0

grilled fish or shrimp with veggies or salad with dressing on the side and then don't dump all of the dressing on your plate.
Water or tea.
I went out to lunch on Saturday and had grilled salmon with pesto. I did eat all of the rice (and it was soooo wonderful), but drank tea and passed on birthday cake later. I still lost a pound this weekend. So, you can go out to eat and make smart decisions and not go off track.0 -
broiled redfish w/green beans and/or sauteed spinach.0

Eat a little lighter (100-200 calories/day) for the rest of the week so you have a large enough deficit to play with on Friday? That's what I'd do -- I don't see the point in going to that style of restaurant if you're not planning to cut loose a little.
If I ended up at that restaurant without time to prepare, I'd probably go with the seared salmon salad, the broiled Texas redfish with a veggie side, or a cup of burnt corn & crab bisque.0 -
Definitely find out what the Scottish Salmon is - I'd be willing to bet it's simply a salmon steak that you could probably get dry grilled. They're probably trying to be fancy and make you think the salmon came from Scotland! Plain filet medallions would also be good. And either with steamed green beans or a small side salad - dressing on the side, please!
Enjoy!0 -
I'd ask what the Scottish salmon is, but if I'm paying I'd go with the grilled chicken salad with honey mustard dressing on the side.0

A lot would depend on how my week was going and how often I eat out. If I had not splurged already this week and I didn't go out often, then I would order whatever the heck I wanted. If I had been out already this week (aka a splurge) then I would be more careful.
So, if I was being good I would get the 5 oz Fillet Medallion with Sauteed Spinach and Green Beans.
If I was allowing a splurge I would get the Burnt Corn and Crab Bisque, 12 OZ Delmonico Steak with Whipped Potatoes and Sauteed Spinach (so still getting my greens lol), and a dessert of some sort. Why? Because I don't eat out all that often at all anymore (can't due to restricted diet due to a medical condition).0 -
Holy crap, are you sure that's the restaurant you want to go to? I don't see a whole lot of options that aren't deep-fried or smothered in heavy sauce...
But I'd go for a steak, with maybe a light soup and green beans on the side.0 -
Yummers! Personally I'd go with the filet mignon it's only $10 more than the shrimp. I'd either do the sauted spinach or the burnt corn as a side. No apps though just a waste of $ and calories, and no bread at the table that packs on the kcals pretty fast.
Although, maybe I take it back on the apps the voodoo scallops sound yummy.
On 3rd thought after reading the wine list I take it back no scallops bring me the booze0 -
And dear, if you want to do the shrimp do the shrimp. Just portion it out and choose a lower calorie side ask them if you can replace on of the sides with a green salad and do an oil/vinegar dressing or dip the tines of your fork into the dressing.0

I don't think Scottish Salmon necessarily means it's greasy or fried. A lot of salmon does come from Scotland. You could ask how the salmon is prepared.0

Thanks everyone! I'll go with a small steak, grean beans (no butter) and maybe a side salad. No, I would not choose this restaurant for myself; it is for a business meeting.
I really do appreicate all the wonderful responses! Everyone ROCKS!0
