Quick Question

So initially when I started about a week and a half ago, I had been pretty much hitting my limit of 1550 calories each day, sometimes going a little over, mostly staying under. I realized today that I was probably giving myself too much credit as far as my activity level and changed that to sedentary because I do spend more time at my desk or sitting in class than actually walking around or standing.
Anyway, now my calorie limit is 1200 calories a day and I guess I don't really know what to do with it, since I'm a little scared to go too far under but I don't really like going over either. So my question is, should I use the 1200 more as a guideline and stay as close as I can without going too far under or over?
Another question; am I just being a little too neurotic about this :P

I would use it as your guideline unless you have it set at an aggressive level of loss - if so reset it to 0.5-1lb a week loss. Then start adding 20 -30 minutes exercise - walking is a great place to start - to give yourself some extra calories each day. You will still lose weight if you do this, but without feeling hungry all the time.0

the question really comes to was 1500 a day working for you? ie were you dropping? if it was working why fix what is not broken? if you feel the need however try out 1200 a day for a week or so getting as close as can with out going over and see how you feel. if you notice that you feel sluggish then readjust back to the 1500. its all about finding what works best to help you achieve your goals. keep in mind with different foods you can eat a lot with out destroying what your working for. good luck and feel free to add me.

With 40 lbs to lose, you can definitely lose on more than 1200. Have you calculated your TDEE?
http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/
Use that and then you'll want to do the TDEE - 20% calorie total for weight loss. You eat that same number every day.0 -
not sure what your objective is or how your goals were set. use the keto calculator to set your MFP goals correctly. the MFP generally defaults to a diet that's a bit high on carbs, low on fat and such for true weight loss. without seeing your specs and your diary, it's a bit hard to say whether 1550 or 1200 is ideal, carbs is key for weight reduction.0

Thank you guys! I haven't lost anything so far, but I'm i guess just trying to find what works at this point and roll with it.
Judging by your website FrankiesSaysR, maybe I was really ok with the 1550 (website said 1591).
I'll think about it a little more! I can always stay with 1550 and go down if it just isn't working.0 -

Don't stress about it too much.
I would really just stay at 1550 for another week and if you don't have any changes at that point (not losing weight) I would make another 10% reduction in calories and give it another week or two. Put your efforts into tracking intake accurately and monitor your results and you should be able to adjust those variables somewhat to get the results you want.0 -
OK thanks very much guys.
I over think pretty much everything, I'm just an anxious person, so I'm sure I'll be fine with 1550 for at least another week or so and then I can see where I am.
Thanks for the help, and hey, I'm always looking for friends so feel free to add me! :happy:0 -
