Hi, I'm 56 and my wife is 55. Between us we have a whole person to lose. I have used this site to lose 60# before and have loses of over #80 at least five times, but keep gaining it back.

We are starting our diet/exercise system again and this time I would like to add a few buddies for encouragement.

My basic system follows the fact that to lose 1# per week, you must shed by diet and/or exercise 3500 Kcal per week. This is the Kcal in 1#. That equals 500# per day of combined diet reduction and exercise. If you want to lose 2#/wk, you need to have a 1000kcal per day deficit.

I worked out formulas years ago that spreadsheet what your Daily Basic Metabolic Rate is. Although it changes as you lose and gain weight. For a #300 person it can run 2200 Kcal/day to remain at that weight. Therefore dropping your calorie intake by 500 kcal to 1700 kcal/day will lose 1#/wk. Dropping to 1400 Kcal/day gives about 800 Kcal loss and then exercising daily to shed another 200 Kcal gives a total daily loss of 1000Kcal or 7000 kcal/wk which is a 2# loss.

I am trying for 2#/wk loss and my wife for 1.5#/wk, since I execise alot more than she does.

Would you have any interest in becoming part of our support group. We are just starting to gather a support group together?

Just let me know. But either way.............Great luck in losing the weight. Just draw a line in the sand and set your mind to it.
