How do you clean your equipment? (Weights, mat, HRM etc)

I own several sets of hand weights, made of a rubbery material, a "Hemming Weigh" floor mat. (Also rubbery, about an inch thick, it's a nice one.)

Also a Polar FT60 HRM, (the strap's been giving me problems, my friend recommended I put in in a bottle or container with HOT water, light detergent, and shake it really good, and it should start working again, I'm wondering, I haven't tried that.)

After awhile, my waterproof HRM wristwatch part gets pretty gross, from sweat, sometimes smells like a used band-aid. Ew. lol

Not sure how I would clean the 'computer' part of it (it's a computer device that picks up the heartbeat from the strap, like a Snap-On thing, about the size of small MP3 player. I KNOW you do NOT clean neither of these in the wash, duh. :noway:)

I want to clean my stuff every so often, just not sure what I should use, because I have sensitive skin. Sometimes I can break out in a rash if I get too much cleanser on me, I use gloves to clean my house. I own numerous all-purpose cleaners, some germ-killing wetwipes, (1 for hands, the other for surfaces like the bathroom)

How do you clean your workout stuff? Tips appreciated!

I have a Polar and I have put the strap in the washing machine with my regular laundry a few times when it starts to get gross. Otherwise I just rinse it really well with water after each workout and hang it to dry. I've never washed the watch and would have no idea what to use.

I have never cleaned my weights. I have notice that my hands STINK after my workout and I wash my hands immediately but I don't know how to clean them. Some are rubber and some are the coated cast iron. I have wiped down my yoga mat with just water before but I haven't used anything to clean it. I don't roll it up after I use it so it dries out and it doesn't really smell, but I'm wondering if there's a good way to clean it. Looking forward to more comments!

My gym has a spray bottle with some kind of disinfectant inside. It's to be used on all the equipment - yoga mats, dumbbells, cushions, etc...

I don't know about HRMs, but as for the non-electric stuff, you should be able to spray with Lysol or wipe it down with a Clorox wipe. You could also google, "How do I clean my (specific item)?"

For mats I just use the wipes. For my HRM I us a little dish soap and hand wash it and leave it on the counter to dry. I do that with the components, the watch, the strap and the snap on piece.

I don't do weights but if I did, I would clean them with either kitchen wipes or detergent spray and wipe thoroughly.

I do, however, own an HRM and this is how I care for it:

I rinse the strap thoroughly after every use, under running cold water.
Every fifth use, I put it in the washing machine and wash it on a 30 degrees wash (no conditioner or softener should be added to the wash when the strap is in the machine), when washed I leave the strap to dry naturally, never hang it on a radiator or near to one (after all, if it is still damp the next time you use it, so what, it has to be dampened before use anyway).

I wipe the receiver with a damp cloth.
I wipe the watch with a kitchen wipe every so often.
