Thoughts on the Up by Jawbone fitness/sleep tracker

I'm thinking of purchasing an UP by Jawbone fitness tracker bracelet or maybe a Fitbit Force.

Has anyone used/tried this or something similar? Do you get sick of wearing it? Do you feel like it's accurate?

Would appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

  • I have had my Jawbone for about 3 weeks. I don't get sick of wearing it, I hardly even remember i have it on. It's great for logging food and exercise but it only works if you are moving your arms.. which is fine when I run but if you are walking on the treadmill and have your hand up it wont count or if I am walking my dog and I am holding the leash with the arm I have the Jawbone on it won't count any of those steps. You can manually log things like weight lifting and swimming though.

I haven't tried the fitbit. I just wanted a HRM for my birthday and my finace thought this was one. So I like it but I'd rather have a Heart Rate Monitor that is probably more accurate.

    Hope that helps a little.
  • I've had mine for a month and I do like it. I got it on black so it is a neutral color. I think it's pretty accurate because it even tells me if I woke up during the night. It's a great way to "measure" everything from sleep, movement, calories, and nutrition.

I got it I black so it is easy to match with everything I wear.

I started with a Jawbone UP...It was comfortable, but not very accurate. It was a little bulky on the wrist for my taste, and I had issues with it putting itself in sleep mode and not syncing properly with the iPhone app. I ended up taking it back 30 days after I got it and purchasing a FitBit Flex.

I wear the fitbit for everything but swimming...I even wear it in the shower. It is comfortable, looks like one of those "cause" bracelets that are popular, and it tracks everything I need. For the first few weeks I had it, I continued to wear my pedometer and they were always withing 20-30 steps of each other, so much more accurate for me than the Jawbone. Plus my fitbit was cheaper. If you can do without the clock and stairs feature of the force, you can get a flex pretty cheap right now.

Having tried both, I'm a fitbit user all the way. Just my opinion though.

I am a bit confused about how it syncs though....I just synced my sleep and it added 154 calories burned to my excercise but MFP seems to have taken it off instead of adding it on to my total.
