Only losing weight when binging?

I've been trying to return to my weight of 120 and from Sep. 25 to Oct. 25 I spent everyday eating around 800 cals, no sweets, no soda, no fast food, lots of vegetables, fruits, water, and whole grain. I exercise a minimum of 1 hr a day by doing jogging and yoga and videos like tae-bo.. Every week I weighed my self and it's always 150 it's never even fluctuated down to 149 or anything.
So yesterday, the 26th, i gave up because i figured my body just won't lose this weight, i bought some ice cream, a chocolate bar, and a box of pizza to myself. This morning I weighed myself thinking I would probably gain weight and the scale shows I've lost 4 pounds, whats going on? Can someone explain this to me?

You aren't eating enough food. If you are only eating 800 calories you are starving yourself. Because you at more calories your body's metabolism kick started ... eat more food and you will lose the weight. Good luck!0

Very simple. You were eating 800 cals a day PLUS exercising? Meaning you probably were only holding onto somewhere around 500-600 cals per day? Your body thought you were starving, and thus was holding on to all calories you took in, therefore you were not losing weight. You binged and your body realized that you had food again and were not starving, and no longer had to hold onto weight. QUIT STARVING YOURSELF. Stick with 1200 cals per day, if you exercise, eat those calories back (if you eat 1200, then workout and burn 300, then you need to eat 300 more to stay at 1200).0

800 calories is not enough. Your body is holding on to what its got because it doensn't know when you're going to feed it again. Set your goals up on MFP and follow the sites calorie recommendation. :flowerforyou:0

800 calories is not enough to maintain the functions of your body, so it is holding on to everything you give it. You have to eat a balanced diet and get enough calories including eating back your exercise calories.0

You have experienced your first "starvation mode"... eat... with in reason.0

As the site says when you are closing your food diary for the day "you are NOT eating enough calories". Excercising an hour a day every day and only eating 800 calories is not healthy. Follow the program as indicated and you will lose the extra weight.0

It sounds to me like your body went into a starvation mode. When you don't eat enough calories and then work out on top of that your body won't have enough fuel to help you lose weight, so it starts storing so it won't starve. This is how it was explained to me before. It's important to eat enough calories to fuel your body. I found on this site where you can calculate your BMR and that is what is recommended amount of calories you need to keep your body going for the day if you sit around. I would suggest you try eating more calories then 800 and it will add your exercise calories in but you don't have to eat those if you don't want to. Play around to find what your body needs to help you lose weight. Hang in there it's all a learning process and listen to your body.

i dont get it...then may as well not exercise those extra calories if you going to eat them....i'm confused :ohwell:0 -
Your body requires a minimum of 1200 cals a day to function and with burning cals you need to replace most of them. Also one "bing" once a week or every 10 days is not a bad thing, it can prevent your body from going into starvation mode and allow you to fill cravings for 'not so healthy' foods.0

Calorie intake is for weight loss
Exercise is for health

I think it really depends on your body's metabolism. I make sure i'm eating my recommended daily calories (1300) however do not eat any of my excercise calories. I lose weight consistently at a healthy rate. When I don't eat enough or reach my daily calories is when I do NOT lose any weight. I think it's important to just pay attention to your own body until you reach that magical combination that makes it happen.0
