Pilates combined with cardio?

So, I've been doing some extensive research on workout regimens and which ones are best suited for the body I would like to obtain. Like I mentioned in my previous post, I'd like to lose weight but at the same time maintain the curves I already have. From everything I've researched, I think I'd like to start doing Pilates combined with cardio 5-6 times a week. Does anyone else do this? And if so, what kind of results are you seeing? How long of a workout should I do for the best results? Thanks!

  • I started doing Pilates about a month ago and I'm addicted! I go 3 times a week, and combine that with 3 runs and 2 spin classes per week as well. So, 5 cardio workouts and 3 pilates! I will go to yoga 2 times per week MAX, usually just Sunday night as a way to relax, so I don't really count that in my exercise regimen!

I love the way Pilates makes my core feel. My trouble area is my belly, and Pilates really targets core +obliques with every exercise. Also, I don't love to lift weights, even though I know it's really good for you, and I feel like Pilates is a great compromise!
  • Also - my Pilates classes are 45 minutes each. For runs I do 1 30 minute run, 1 40 minute run, and 1 50 minute run. My spin classes are an hour each (w/ 10 minutes dedicated to warm up+warm down)

I love Pilates as well! Was introduced to them years ago and currently do workouts using Fitness Blender. They don't burn a lot of calories but they are awesome for building long lean muscles. There is a thigh slimming one I love do, I'm also doing the Hip Hop Abs program. I don't have access to a gym because I have two small children so I have to workout at home. But would love to take an actual class one day!
  • I've been using Fitness Blender as well! Great videos for people who don't have access to the gym. Thank you for taking te time to respond ladies. I always like to hear what others are doing and how it's working out :)
