hoping to lose a stone or more by christmas :)

hello, im about 2/3 stone over weight, ive got thyroid problems unknown to me, so im now on new meds and hopefully they will help me loose weight at a normal weight unlike in the past it would take so much to loose just 2lbs.

underactive thyroid says it all, ive also had my gall bladder out so a low fat diet is something i need to get used to.

my goal at the mo, is one stone gone by xmas! id  id love some weight loss buddies :)

    Hey and welcome!

I'm the same as you! Hypothyroidism with no gallbladder. You'll definitely notice a difference once the meds start working and also, keep in mind it may take time to find the right dosage for your thyroid. They started me on 50mcg of Levothyroxine then upped it to 75...now to 88mcg and that finally is the dosage that makes my thyroid work properly. So if you haven't been on the meds for long, give it time and a few blood checks to see how your body is responding but you'll definitely notice a difference once you have the right dosage in you!

I notice now I lose weight so much easier than I did before, when I didn't know I had a bad thyroid.
  • starryeyedcar its nice to see someone else in the same boat, i was extremely sick for a whole year, i actually had my surgery last november, the sickness made me loose 2 stone! but like a crazy person i couldnt stop eating! lol id been sick for so long i had a whole year of eating what i wanted.. and now the two stone is back if not more!

miss kittyninj thanks i did consider a diet but im told my thyroid is only slightly out but im actually also trying for a baby, so im told to be on the safe side im to take the meds as a bad thyroid can cause mc. im just hoping the loosing weight will help.

like i said im trying for a baby, i already have a lovely 18 month baby boy and im hoping i can get preg soon but id love to loose some weight before hand as i know it will be healthier!

Yeah it's so hard, definitely but you can do this!

MFP is an awesome place and if you log all of your food and exercise and really follow the goals that you set for yourself, you WILL get there!

thanks :) i def would love some friends while trying to get there! my first mini goal is 2-4 lbs gone by next week, then 14 lbs gone by xmas day! thats over a month so im hoping it can be done! my only prob is ive got my mothers birthday party this weekend.. i can be sure there will be cake, food etc but i was wondering if i saved some calories each day that i could save up enough that if i did have food at the party but not go nuts it would be ok?
