I've just ordered this workout dvd and want to know if its any good.
I don't do any strength training normally, I run 20-25 miles a week but never manage to tone up so am hoping that this might do the trick.
Also once the 30 days are up is there a follow up dvd to follow?

Wow! I wish I could run that much! I am on day 13 of the 30 day shred and I have noticed changes in my leg muscles and arm muscles. I am not sure about the follow up though. I am on level 2 right now and it is killing me! LOL0

This DVD is killer, it'll definitely get you in shape but you have to make sure your calories are in check to really see results, and you can't hold back w/ the workouts. Strength training is really more important than cardio if you want tone. Plus the more muscle you have the more calories you burn! I have all Jillian's DVDs and they are all pretty crazy as you would expect. Once you finish The Shred I recommend trying either the "No more trouble zones" or the "Boost your metabolism" one. They are about 45 minute workouts, but watch them first so you know what you're in for. I also like the Biggest Loser weight loss Yoga DVD. Hope this helps!!0

I have the 30 day shred dvd and i really enjoy it! Jillian is so mean hahah!! I really felt a difference in my arms the most. Level 2 (i believe) is all about the arms and it will kill you!0

30DS really helped me with the weight loss and muscle tone, it really did. I did it over about 2 months and still do the odd level now and again, interspersed with Jillian's other two DVDs (Banish Fat... which is a really tough cardio workout, and No more Trouble Zones which is more cardio with weights, and actually a bit easier than BFBM!) I love her motivating chat!0

I have this DVD and 3 pound hand weights...i've gotta start it up again! I haven't ran or done my 3 miles of speed walking in over a months and my legs are DISGUSTING!!! That would be a good thing for me to do while dinner is in the oven. It's a great circuit workout and even though it's 25 minutes, it works soo well!0

thanks for the input - i'm really excited about starting the dvd when it arrives. I love the biggest loser and how 'nasty' she is when she's training people. She's like a drill sgt. Hopefully I will lose a few inches before the end of the 30 days, just in time for all the pre chrismas parties.0

I did the original 30 days in about 45 days. I found my body just needed to rest every few days, because the workout is quite intense. I still use it two to three times a week, because it's a great, quick, cross-training option. I always break a sweat ,and I always feel great afterwards. At this point I've done each level 20+ times each, and each one still challenges me in different ways. I'm still not able to get through a single one without at least some modifications--so there's no real reason to stop after the first 30!
One thing I did find out: I started with 3-lb hand weights, but quickly discovered that some of the arm moves were too easy at that level--so now I keep both 3-lb and 5-lb weights nearby when I work out.
Also--I didn't do exactly 10 workouts of each level before moving on to the next. After I had done Level 1 5 times I felt a little bored, so I moved up to Level 2. After I had done Level 2 ten times or so, I got bored again, and moved up to Level 3. Then, for the last 8 or so days of my initial 30, I alternated between each one. Just go with what works for you. Level 2 remains my favorite, and I actually find it more challenging overall than Level 3.0
