Cranberries

The company I work for has a lady that comes in every other week and sells us candy/nuts/granola made by Mountain Man. She typically has free samples and tries to get us hooked. I normally avoid her all together, but this last time I really couldn't because she came to me to talk to me. (I used to buy all kinds of junk food from her. She is probably upset about the lost business). Anyway, I bought Dried Cranberries. They are delicious, but (maybe it is just me) when I eat them--I feel hungry all day. I never had this problem with being hungry, but something about these darn cranberries make me hungry. I'm almost finished with the bag and I'm not buying anymore. Does anyone else have any weird myths about foods they eat? Or am I the only crazy? lol

I wonder if the rush of sugar to your system is causing it? I drank juice 2 mornings this week and on those 2 days I was much hungrier. And guess what? It was CRANBERRY/grape juice!

Sugar. I tend to get "hungry" when I have refined sugar. It sets off a horrible spiral, if I'm not careful to keep myself in check.

Dried cranberries typically have a lot of sugar added to them. The sugar makes you feel more hungry, or at least it does me. I also eat dried cranberries. I get apple juice sweetened dried cranberries when I do, still sugar, but less then the sugar sweetened ones. I'll also just buy a bag of cranberries and eat them straight up. I'm always looking at the dried cranberry section hoping to find some that are low in sugar.. no dice.. ever.. *sigh* they are awesome in salads

It's probably the concentrated sugar. They're like any dried fruit. I'd never sit down and eat 15 apricots but I can pound back 15 dried apricots no problem. You get all the concentrated sugar without the extra water that fills you up.

Oh man! We used to have a Mountain Man salesguy come in every week and sell us all that stuff too. He's long gone now and I'm happy about that. I barely could resist his goods!
