Hi everyone,
I've been lurking the forums for a while and I've just recently started using my fitness pal to log my food intake although I'd say I've been trying to lose weight for the past few weeks.
My stats
CW is 188 pounds
GW is 155-160 pounds
I know I've got a long to way to go but I believe its a marathon not a sprint so trying to do it as healthily as possible. Anyway, I'd be interested to see what other people think of my food plan as it is and if there is anything else I should be doing. MFP says I should be eating 1570 cals a day which I feel is quite sufficient and most the time I've been bang on or just under.
Anyway, look forward to sharing my weightloss journey wit you all!

No Way! Oh by the way...Welcome. You do not have a long way to go at all. 188-160 is gonna be a breeze for you. Lock your mind on the task at hand and then set small weekly or bi-weekly goals to accomplish. The end goal will be there before you know it! Roughly 22 lbs - losing 1.5lbs a week and you will be your new self in April right before summer starts! If you really take control of your diet and be consistent on working out at least 3 to 4 times a week (even if its just walking for an hour a day) you can very well do more than 1.5 a week. Maybe 2 to 3. So a lot is going to depend on how much time you have, how dedicated do you want to be to yourself and sticking with it. Add myself and others as friends and we will help you get thru it!
1570 sounds ok, however without know your life style and how active you are on a daily basis, its hard to say whether that caloric number is high, low or just right. How has your weight loss been so far. Do you know what your averaging for the last two weeks?0 -
Hi Stat1124 thanks for the reply!
in comparison to alot of the other members my weight loss goal does seem small but even now seems like a mountain. I've always found it difficult to lose weight and have to put in WEEKS of hard work before getting any pay off.
I actually haven't weighed myself yet, I am a bit scared I won't like what it tells me. I think by end of this week I need to just bite the bullet.
Unfortunately I have a sedentary job but have committed to going to gym at least 4 times a week which I have been good up till tonight when shin splints have caught up with me. However I did a dance class and body combat last night so I don't feel TOO bad tonight!0 -
Ahh, never be afraid to the truth. In this thing we call getting healthy, that truth is only temporary and gives us the needed data to make adjustments and come back harder and stronger. I feel you on the shine splints. I had to stop my road work and join back up with a gym cuz my knees and shines just couldn't take it anymore. Need to give them a break. The treadmill and stairmaster gives me no problems! I was not going to weigh myself until I had five days in but woke up this morning told myself the same thing I just told you. To my surprise I had a huge drop! However, I can't get too excited about that because its always like that for me in the beginning. Most of it is stored up Budweiser that I'm burning off! LOL0

Hi! Welcome to MFP. I have the same amount of weight to lose as you. I am really trying to focus on this as a lifestyle change and not a diet. I am human and I will have good days and bad days, but the important part is to make everyday a fresh start and stick to it as best I can. 20 years ago I weighed 300 lbs and got down to 160 and kept that off until 4 years ago when I got pregnant at 39 years old and found out I had cancer. I have a beautiful 4 year old son and I have been in remission for 2 1/2 years.
I am always looking for friends to motivate and support who will do the same for me. Friend request sent.0 -
The one thing I can see from everyone is that this is going to be a continual journe- up and down with weight but I think like you said if I commit to a healthier life and exercise more then I should be ok.
Past few months been feeling terrible about myself the past few months as this is the heaviest I have ever been. So uncomfortable but as soon as I have been exercising my mood has lifted so much its like a miracle!
Sorry to hear about your cancer enkmom that sounds like a horrible time but at least you got your son out of all this!0
