Picky eaters / Desk jobs

I'm new to this site - so forgive me if I'm not doing this the correct way.. I'm currently looking to lose about 50lbs. My problem areas are that I work very long hours (two jobs) and most of my time at work is spent sitting behind a desk. With that said, I have very little opportunity/time to exercise. I'm sure there are tons of others in my position - my question is how or what do you do to fit exercise into your schedule? I'm aware that just by reducing my calorie intake that I will still lose weight without exercising. I also do not have a gym membership and am not in the situation to pay for one currently. So my main form of exercise would be walking. I'm also what you'd consider a 'picky' eater. I don't really like most vegetables. Just looking for advice/info about what others fit into their diets to make up for lack of fruits/vegetables. Thanks in advance for any responses :)

Feel free to add me. I work 3 jobs and am also looking to lose 50+ pounds.

I find that scheduling exercise time on the calendar, just like I enter my work schedule(s) helps to make sure I fit it in. (and following through with it). For me, I've found that I must exercise first thing in the morning even if it mean getting up at 3:00 a.m. Otherwise I will find every excuse in the book to skip it for a day or two, which becomes 3 and 4 and so on.

Cooking/Eating healthy for me when sometimes I work 18 hours a day is a challenge. If I do manage to have a few hours off from everywhere, I will sit down and plan casseroles and crock pot dishes and fix plenty to have leftovers for a few days so I almost always have a healthy option to take to work with me. Veggies are not my favorite so I'm getting creative in adding them secretly to dishes. Spaghetti squash casserole is awesome. I found the recipe on here.

    Good luck : )

I am probably not as busy as you, but I commute over 150km each day, I have a full time job, a kid, a husband and I volunteer.

I find the only way I can work out is out in the evenings right before bed. I use videos at home, usually fitnessblender. On weekends I fit in a jog or some sort of activity as well.

In terms of veggies, I found that my taste buds have just changed after I forced myself to eat more freshly. I used to HATE ... i mean HAAAATE apples and now my day feels incomplete if I dont have one.

Also, try finding just random ways to incorporate them into things you love. Love pasta? Throw a bunch of spinach or zuchinni into the sauce. Like pizza, well just throw veggies on top. There is always a way to hide veggies.

well I workout at 4:30am :) it is the only time of the day that I can.... it sucks but it works and I know it will get done.

Foodwise, I was picky at one point until I ate better then I made myself try things (one time). Some things I liked and some I didn't. For those that I didn't, I kept trying it over and over and eventually something said "hey this is good"... just a matter of finding what works :)

People might tell you, "just get over being a picky eater" but honestly it's not that simple. I would say, aim to eat the fruits and veggies you DO like. Also, I would also aim to eat fake meat (you know, the veggie sausage, riblets, etc. you can find them in the health food section of a grocery store or the frozen section). They have a bit of a veggie makeup.

I exercise at 5 am at the gym. I suggest browsing the Tv channels for workouts, or looking into buying some exercise videos. Free weights at home work too.

As for food-I learned to like veggies. It's all in the way they are cooked. You can also chop them up and add to meats and rice, etc.

There are some balance disks you can try sitting on at work (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00A6Q57X8/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1Q3QRTZQCUAU3&coliid=I1FKVG24EDZSA7)) to help strengthen your core.

I also pack healthy lunches the night before (when I remember) and always always chop up any veggies the day that I buy them, so that they're easy to just put in a baggie and take along as a snack. Hope this helps!
