I did it in college! We had a weight watchers close to the university so I joined and met some friends there. It was the best decision I ever made. I also lived alone in college so it was easy to regulate myself and not have junk food around.0

I'm in my second year of university, and my goal is in sight! I'm not sure how far from my goal weight/size I am yet, because I don't know what it is (hopefully I will know when I get there!).
One main thing for me was to cut back on alcohol and take outs. I prepare meals at the weekend to last the week, and always have a large selection of frozen vegetables to go with the fresh ones I have.
I also took up running (C25K was my best friend for a long time!). I try to get out whenever I get the chance, usually when I have a break between lectures, and there are no rooms free to practice in (I'm a musician). Just get it in when you have the chance! Also, youtube workouts such as 30DS were a great help in kick-starting my fitness.
Basically, to conclude this ramble, it can be done in university!!! What's more, there are loads of people around you at that time in your life, to help motivate you.
Good luck!0 -
I go to the gym a couple times a week for 30-40 mins (especially weekends, when I'm more well-rested), walk outside a LOT (at least every other day, usually for 40-60 minutes; amazing stress relief), count calories (i usually give myself one cheat day a week for parties etc. but even then try to be mindful about things like snacking). When I'm going out to eat with friends, I'm mindful about picking healthier options. I lost a hundred pounds my freshman year and since around August have lost another 15-20. Starting up my sophomore year, I've changed my weight loss goals from 2lbs a week to 1 (make sure you're not setting yourself up for anything unrealistic; I just ate a huge bowl of mac n cheese because it was a dollar and it was delicious). It's totally possible!0

I'm a returning student, I went to 2 years of a Junior College after HS (2000&2001) then joined the Army for 8 years. When I went back to school in 2009 I jumped into a Biology Major with a Physics minor to prep for Physical Therapy School.
Carrying 18 units and letting a broken shoulder heal helped me gain 40 lbs over 3 years. A slow realization during my Organic Chem II class that it wasn't helping me prep for a PT degree and I moved to a Kinesiology major.
Being surrounded with young, fit, future Athletic Trainers, and Health and Wellness majors really kicked my *kitten* into gear.
I got into a routine of working out while still at school, in the gym or running in the desert off of campus. I found it was easy. Half my classmates wear 'workout gear' to class anyway, so I could literally go to school already dressed for it. If I waited until I got home, I found excuses to spend time with wife and/or kids, or sit down and do that 'quick one-page paper' and run later. It rarely happened.
Now I go to class, then workout M,W,F. Saturday is a bonus enjoyable 'easy long run'
I started last semester and by the time summer break came, I was well into the habit of working out 4 days a week and felt like I had all the time in the world. Once this fall semester started, I had been doing it for 6 months and it was "What I Do".
I honestly think I can accomplish the same amount of coursework in 1 hour after a workout as I can in 2 hours with no exercise beforehand.0
