Hey there everybody! So being in college I still want to make sure I stay in good shape but I have absolutely NOOOO motivation to get up and go do it! I was wondering if anyone has any good ideas to make myself want to actually go down to the gym!

Just do it. There's a video on youtube thats in my head that its always the answer.

Its not easy at first. Once you push yourself the habit starts and then the motivation hits. Its a circle.

Pull out your schedule Right Now! What days/times can you get there? Be realistic. Write it down now. Then tell someone... me, all of us, whatever. Then check in. It really helps when you Know someone will know if you don't do it.

Where are you doing to school? (Never mind, I see you're in WI)

How tall are you? since your weight is low. I'm in the same boat. I think mentally its hard too when you are small, don't weight a lot but knowing that exercise is Still needed. Others say "you look fine" and it gets in your head. Its about more than looks though, we know its about Healthy

    Welcome!

It is a habit you get yourself into. At first you might resent it. Than it will become second nature.

Like brushing your teeth or showering. It is body maintenance.

What would you say to a person who posted they just had no motivation to brush their teeth? How would you suggest to them to find motivation?

Just get up and do it before your brain has a chance to think about it! The hardest part is pushing yourself to start. When I'm feeling unmotivated, I just get my gym clothes on and get in the car -- by that time, there's no going back and I end up having a great workout when I get there. Getting some new workout gear also helps :)

Normally find you start with motivation which moves into habit. I have joined and left gyms over and over but since taking classes I've stuck in, things like zumba are great fun, maybe go along with a friend, or find someone on here who has similar goals and make daily/ weekly challenges for each other!
I am finding C25K app one of the best things, totally addictive!
Also keeping photos of what you want to look like ! Seems dumb but now my tablet I full of photos/ quotes that inspire me, honestly if you looked though it you would think I have a fetish for fit women wearing Nike!

Really it is up to you to get out there and do it, if you don't do it now you will be kicking yourself in 6 months time!
Set a goal and go for it, won't happen over night but will not happen at all if you don't move your *kitten*!
    Good luck!

    As Nancy said.

This is how my brain generally works: It's 5:30 am on Saturday. My bed is warm and comfortable. The alarm goes off. I slam the snooze, swear quietly inside my head and pause to notice how much I like sleeping and the dream I was just having.

Alarm goes off again. I slam it off, swear again and then note that the room is cold. I ponder the meaningfulness of going outside when it is clearly so much worse than sleeping in for another 2 hours, drift off and the stupid alarm goes off again. I contemplate throwing it across the room but settle with one final slam. I then stare at the ceiling because any hopes of reclaiming that fabulous dream is gone and decide that I'll just put on the shoes and go for a short walk.

Five minutes later I'm out the door, but not before I've had to return home to retrieve my glasses, my music, and my gloves (because it's frickin' cold at 5:47 am). I am semi-comatose as I start down the street but the music starts to wake me up and I move a little less like a zombie.

Within a few minutes, I feel awake and have almost turned the corner into convincing myself this wasn't the worst idea I've had this week. Within ten minutes, I'm looking around, noticing seagulls that have no business being in a landlocked state and other random stuff and am almost running.

And an hour later, my sweaty self finds itself back home and I wonder how I ever could have hesitated to go out because I no longer hate the world (and my alarm clock) and I've just had the best part of my day.

Just do it. Even if you have to lie to yourself to get yourself out the door.
