    Hi Ali,

I work with a personal trainer once a week and she sometimes does TRX with me, I actually just log it as strength training under the cardiovascular exercise section. Good luck, it's hard work and it definitely is a great exercise!!

If you've got an HRM, you can enter your own exercise into the database and log the calories your HRM says

    If you've got an HRM...
It's useless for tracking burn using suspension trainers. Suspension training isn't cardio, it's resistance training.

I came acrosss this in the research -
TRX classes include consecutive strength movements without rest, making the sessions high-intensity workouts. According to the Harvard Medical School, a 30-minute resistance training session burns between 180 and 266 calories, depending on body weight.

I understand that but its more accurate than some online calculator

This would be pretty accurate. TRX is a great workout.

  • I have been working with a 30-40 minute TRX class 2X per week for the past 15 months. As long as you have a good instructor, you should really like it. Using a Beat 60 HRM, based upon my profile of 51 yr old 180 lb male, the calorie burn during the class runs in the 600-700 range. HR maxes in the mid 170's and averages in the mid 150's. Search youtube for TRX and it will give you an idea of what is involved, just be careful when watching some of the more high end athletes doing it as their routines can get quite involved and newbies might get turned off. If you stick with it, you will definitely see quick results - first few weeks are pretty tough as you gain balance and core strength, but the benefit is well worth the efforts. Good Luck!

The classroom form of TRX is nothing more than group-led circuit training. Which is not a bad thing. Circuit training is and always has been one of the best means of developing overall fitness and athleticism.
