cant stop loosing weight! help?

i'm a freshman and i cant stop loosing weight! im really thin and i play sports, so i burn calories like crazy. on top of that i have an already fast metabolism. i eat a lot of calories but i cant seem to eat enough. im currently underweight, but i dont really mind. its okay to me, but i would really like to maintain my weight and stop lossing it! i dont really have a big appetite, but i eat as much as i can. i need to get enough energy to balence out my workouts...any tips? thanks a lot! :laugh:

You may want to try some protein shakes, add some almond butter or natural peanut butter, a banana and whole milk for extra calories and protein. Also, some good quality protein bars, and snack on almonds. It may be that your metab is high since you are young, but you may want to get your thyroid checked and make sure you are not Hyperthyroid (a simple blood test can determine this).0

While most of us here would LOVE to have your problemI do understand it can be a problem.
My mother is a Celica, that means she cannot process gluten from most grains, some people who have this disease have a really hard time maintaining their weight. I'm not saying this is a problem you have, but it is just an example of a problem that could exist that you are not aware of.
You say you are underweight, but you don't give any details, if you don't mind sharing, how much do you weigh, how tall are you, how old are you and what sex are you, also measure around you wrist at the bone the bumps out and tell us the circumference of your wrist, that will give us an idea of your frame size. A lot of the published guidelines for weight and height are very general, and certainly do NOT account for every one out there, far from it in fact.

Since you are on the message boards, I am thinking you have created a profile on MFP with the recommended calorie and nutrient counts to gain 1 1/2 to 2 pounds a week. I would follow the MFP guidelines as closely as possible and let the program work for you.
I think adding additional fruit juices and fruit smoothies may be a good source of calories for snacks. Nuts and peanut butter are also highly concentrated calories with the good fats -- as opposed to the saturated fats.
Set your goals and follow the program, just as those of us trying to lose. It's not always easy. Good luck on your journey.0 -

thanks for the quick reply, and sure i can specify. i dont think gluten is a problem for me, but its a good suggestion. im 14 and about 5'2" (pretty short haha) im under 90lbs, most of the time because my weight usually declines from practices and games. im not sure how wide my wrist is, but i have a small frame and am kinda muscular. thanks again, i really appriciate it!0

:flowerforyou: I don't think it was clear that you were so young....not 20, but 14 yrs old.
You are, and will continue to, go thru fluctuations in hormones and quite frankly you need so much more fat than most of us "older" people here.
You really gotta eat...even that cafeteria food and abundant breakfasts for the amount of energy you're putting out, not to mention the the brain and body growth you have yet to develop.
My daughter was in the 5 - 10 percentile, as well, and very healthy for her AGE.
Ask your parent(s) about your growing patterns...this could be very normal for you....eat well. You're worth it :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:0 -
