Onederland at last!

Almost exactly a year ago, I got the leg infection that made me realize that my weight was a real problem. Suddenly it hit me that my husband couldn't lift me in an emergency, and that was the catalyst that made me turn my life around.

Prior to that, I was depressed, unhealthy, and very lazy. I spent every day sitting at my computer, never exercised, barely spent any time outside, got sick fairly frequently, and binged on unhealthy foods constantly. I had "tried" repeatedly to lose weight, but had always given up after two or three weeks of not seeing magically instant results.

Starting January 7th, my husband and I joined a gym. We went three to four times a week, and I started simply; 30 minutes on the elliptical and a few reps on a variety of weight machines. I also completely overhauled my diet, cut out soda and most sugary foods (though I still eat desserts, people, just not as much/as frequent!), and started counting my calories. I used Scooby's calculator to find my calorie intake and have stuck to that system.

Since then I have lost 70.8 pounds-- as of this morning-- and have made a huge number of other strides in my life. I've gotten the haircut, color, piercings, and a tattoo I've wanted for years. I've confronted several major fears and overcome them. I rekindled many friendships and revitalized my social life. I've gotten my groove back in so many ways! It's rare now that I spend any evenings just sitting at my computer, even if it's not a workout day, because there's just so much to do, so many places to go, and so much fun to be had! I finally feel like MYSELF!

In the "before" I weighed 270 pounds, and that photo was taken last December 6th. The "current" was taken today, at 199.2 pounds, finally, FINALLY back in Onederland, a place I haven't seen since high school! And that shirt is a size medium, to boot!

I still have a long way to go-- I need to lose at least another 40 pounds, probably closer to 50, but at this point my lifestyle changes are completely habitual and I'm totally confident that I'll get there. It might take another year, but it'll happen!
