2166 calories works.

So I've been tracking calories consistently for about 5 weeks. During this time I've consumed on average 2188 calories a day. I've lost 5.4 pounds (based on my lowest weight the first week, and my lowest weight last week, and I had already shed about 4lbs of water weight the week before that). That would mean my average TDEE is about 2688.

So 2166 calories works. FOR ME. I'm 5'9" and 158lbs and pretty active. My TDEE is not your TDEE. The same amount doesn't work for all people. Spend some time tracking calories. Figure it out. And I for one, like eating as much as possible while still being successful.

Everyone that does the 1200 calorie thing apparently has the same TDEE, right?

I'm at ~2500 calories and nailing 2 pounds a week like clockwork. Of course, I also burn 1000 calories a day on 10km runs and/or 30km bike rides.

There are many ways to go after weight loss, I *personally* much prefer the high-burn, lots-of-food approach.

Fitting in small spaces is especially useful for air travel. :)
I haven't found my TDEE yet - I've been eating 1800-2100 a day and still losing when I meant to be bulking. :grumble: I'll get it right eventually.
Thank you, BusyLady. Love this thread. :drinker:

2188??? OMG, stop starving yourself!!! I maintain on 2700 and that's before any additional exercise calories. You should do it my way because it's the One True Way™ . (6' 170 pound male, so, uh, your results may vary.)

But seriously, good job on finding a way that works for you without starting at the lowest possible calories.

Hobbits must have a high TDEE despite their small stature. They eat all the time and I haven't seen too many overweight hobbits.

    OP: Awesome post.

Total Daily Energy Expenditure ....aka the calories you need to maintain your weight. If you eat under your tdee, you lose weight.
  • I checked scoobys online…according to that my BMR is 1645 and my TDEE 2262…so how many calories should I eat and should I eat my exercise calories back based on these numbers?
I am 27 yrs old 178cm and 83kg…desk job, gym 3 times a week for 50 min with cardio and some weights.
