Food catered and brought into office last week...

I have previous stated that when I got off the road as a truck driver and into the office I thought I would find it easier to "loose" some weight. I was in for a big surprise, here's a few things catered in or brought in by other employees this week:

Gooey honey bun cinnamon rolls.

Homemade chocolate chip cookies.

Creamy tomato soup.

Huge breakfast burritos, with sour cream, cheese and salsa.

Bag of chocolates.

Barbecue Pork pulled sandwiches.

Did I mention the fresh and soft homemade chocolate chip cookies?

Don't eat them? I'm not sure what the problem is, are your coworkers holding you down and force feeding you? I have cake, ice cream, and pizza rather regularly at work, I still lost weight without issue.

why dont you just bring your own food and not eat whatever others bring? that is what i do when im at uni,. all my mates buy already made sandwiches and stuff and i get out my tupperware and order a skinny cappuccino.. people used to laugh but now... its not so funny for them as i dropped two sizes and they didnt ;) STAY STRONG

I work in a cardiology office that frequently has pharmacy reps bringing food in like that. My advice is to put on your big boy pants and say no. Unless someone puts a gun to your head and makes you eat one of those cookies, you don't have to.

    this! :smooched:

You just have to make yourself. I passed up cheesecake last night. CHEESECAKE. Both people around me in the meeting were eating it. I knew it wasn't going to fit into my calorie goals, so I passed it up. It was easier than I thought too :flowerforyou: You can do it, just tell yourself it's not worth it.

And if you simply can't resist, then have what you want. Just do so in moderation, and add it to your goals for the day. No harm, no foul.

I work in a Chinese restaurant where I'm allowed to eat what ever I want but I don't eat it anymore as I know I can't and stay healthy.

I do understand that it can be a challenge. I'm definitely a "social" eater. On days when I'm puttering around the house, or driving my (solo) courier route, or running errands, etc, I'm totally fine.

But let me get with a group of friends - someone cooks something delicious, the whiskey flows, and watch out!

Honestly, though, the previous posts are right. We are accountable for ourselves. So if a small amount (or not so small) fits your goals, then have it. If it doesn't, then don't.

And if it doesn't and you do? Well, every day is new. You get to try again to get it the way you want it. Sounds like there are plenty of opportunities.

I was just sitting here having a little pity party over being lonely (I work alone in an office all day) and read this...suddenly I feel better...thanks!! :flowerforyou:

(and my vote - eat the delicious food - go workout)

My work is the same way. There are forever full jars of candy (and it's the good chocolate bar stuff), trays of cookies, chips and dips you name it. My trick? Don't sit anywhere near it. If I don't sit near it and never have to walk past it, it doesn't exist to me. Out of sight, out of mind. Maybe ask for the place where are the treats are to be moved or if you can move. On the days I do want to have some I just grab a small handful (never use a plate) and I make sure it can fit into my goals before I eat it.

Well, it certainly was not a matter of life and death. I just thought I'd add a little levity to the forum with an anecdotal story of my own experience in the office culture now, especially as I'm trying to lose (NOT LOOSE) weight ;-)

From some of the replies I received here it seems that some of you former fatties have become self-righteous in the same manner that former smokers become. Just sayin'.
  • Free lunch! Yay! Pass on the sweets, but the rest sounds awesome.

Agree, or sniffing it works too :)
