My Journey (with pics!)

I am no where near done with my journey but just thought I'd share what I've gone through in hopes it will help others
My highest weight was 135-140. I wanted to lose weight so I started eating 1200 cals & running for 3+ miles in the gym every day.
I'd eat crap & still managed to lose weight but I honestly felt so unhealthy. I was constantly tired.
I kept this up for awhile until I noticed pictures of myself where I can see the bones on my chest (disgusting I know)
Even with eating a crap diet (brownies, cakes, ice cream shakes on the daily), exercise, & eating in a deficit, I managed to bring myself to 119 pounds.
The lightest I have ever been. In. My. Life.
Even in middle school I wore size 7 jeans!
I was skinny but I felt even worse about myself. I wanted to be skinny but I hated what I saw in the mirror. Bones. I looked like I was sick. But I still wanted to hit my goal of 115. Maybe if I hit goal, I'd look better. So I started eating more healthfully & slowly my weight managed to creep down to 114 pounds. Officially the lightest I have ever been, ever. I was obsessed with my diet, always figuring out what I was going to eat, when I was going to eat it. I was always hungry. I honestly hated how I looked. I wanted to be skinny but my body was just... not sexy, not how I thought it would be after I hit goal.
I read about heavy lifting, did my research, & took a big leap of faith in the program. I upped my 1200 cals to a whopping 1850-2050 cals on rest days & lifting days, respectfully.
It's been two months since I started strength training.
Before (at my highest weight):
When I was skinny (114-119 lbs):
Since starting heavy lifting (pic taken a week ago):
Finally, two days ago:
It's about being strong & healthy. Not about some imaginary number you've been dreaming about on the scale.
Feed your body right, nourish it & lift something heavy & you'll see changes!

Thank you for writing this. And you're right. It isn't about being skinny, it's about being healthy and fit. I've noticed so many high school girls that are stick thin, literally a size 1. When I was in high school at 5'9" I weighed 120 and I wasn't even near a size 1. So you're absolutely right. It isn't about a number on the scale. Now in the latter part of my 5th decade, my goal is to get to a healthy weight and stay there. I don't know if I can manage the six pack you've earned, but it's inspired me to go grab my handweights and get busy. Again, thanks for this.0
