What is your biggest fitness pet peeve?

People not actually following through on their fitness goals.0

When people are on their cell phones at the gym. Just my little peeve.0
-
Mine is when people act like Taco Bell is the devil :grumble:
Taco Bell is delicious, and helps me hit my macros at least once a week. Healthy enough for me!
I don't know what you guys get, but I keep it simple and just get a taco w meat and cheese. Same w the burger. Meat, cheese, and mustard.
One of mine is ppl who try to tell you that your way (which is working) is the wrong way, especially when you didn't even ask for their advice.0 -
guys trying to strike up conversation while im working out... i fit this time in my day for me.. to make fat cry off my body not to hear pick up lines you come here often.. what do you like doing.. working out.thats why im here.i try to be nice, but that is aggrivating.
girls all dolled up make up on hair fixed at the gym talking on the phone .. sitting on gym equipment not using it. just talking and flirting.. really no place better you can do that .. the gym only has so many machines.. sooo i politely ask them if they are using the machine . .. maybe that's rude, but equipment is meant to be used,
people grunting and throwing weights.. your not Tarzan and Jane doesn't care your there.. shes doing her own workout lol.
some don't get i don't diet.. i love the foods i eat. its a lifestyle for me. i make all my own foods. you eat your food.. ill eat mine.0 -
...Another is at least for the mens locker room, if some of us choose to actually shower and be clean after our workout and we happen to be naked going to and from the shower stall to our locker stop looking at us like were creepy or perverted for being omg naked get the *kitten* over it!
I was confused by your pic and was like, "Welll, they're probably looking bc you're a naked woman in the men's locker room." I would be offended if I saw someone get naked in the locker room. They have doors on the toilet and shower stalls for a reason. It's one of the very few places that I never know what I'm going to get when I go there. So many delicious options! Most places I have one or two items that I choose between every time and that's it.0 -
When I am talking to people about my weight loss and they say "Oh just stop stressing and trying so hard and the weight will just FALL off!"
uh - first off, I was not complaining about my weight loss, I am proud of it, and I dont need help.
second off - if it were that easy, then why are YOU still fat? hmmm? I just need to fart glitter, barf rainbows, and smell like unicorn laughter and while I'm at it I will be magically skinny?
ugh.0 -
I hate it when people order salads with extra cheese and ranch dressing, say they hate it but are on a diet, and then get a cookie because they were "good" with the salad. Just eat the cheeseburger you really wanted--it's lower cal with mustard than your bowl of dressing and cheese.
But the biggest one is one that I've been guilty of in the past: "Some people just won the genetic lottery. They will be thin, I will be fat. I have no control because of _____." Put in the time, do the work, find out how great you can really be--or get really comfortable with being fat. Even if you have a medical reason instead of a lame excuse you won't fix your weight without effort.0 -
Used to be dudes and dudettes not putting up their weights or not putting towels down on benches.
Eta: Oops! Thought gym pet peeves
Hmmmmm... People do what they want as long as they're doing and not complaining. People bashing things they never tried. Unwillingness to go outside the fluffy comfort zone.0 -
People who go from completely sedentary to 2+ hrs of intense cardio 6 days a week and eating 900 calories or something so that they will 'be successful this time'. It just makes me feel like I have a crystal ball, and things don't look so good for them I hate feeling like a know-it-all, but that one really does get me every time.0
-
These are all a lot of great peeves!!! lol and I share a lot of them too with you guys!!!
I don't have the greatest knees, so I'm trying to pace myself and get back into jogging, not too much running yet, and my mother always yells at me saying "Dont hurt yourself!!!!!!!, your knees are bad!!!", nonstop, any workout I do, she always says how dangerous it is...
granted no i had issues with my knees but i don't get to that extent, BUT she doesn't get it and refuses to try working out0 -
people judging me if i want to take supplements0
-
People telling me what I'm doing is wrong and I need to _________ instead.
You can keep your clean food, midnight snacks are the bomb--especially if they consist of pizza or ice cream, I will not drink 16oz of water when I'm hungry, lifting weights will not inhibit my fat loss, lifting will not make me bulky--and even if it did I wouldn't care, cutting carbs/fat would just be depressing, I am not eating too much protein, I am not eating too much in general, I will eat what I want whenever I want it, I will eat back exercise calories, and my diet has no end date--it is a lifestyle change.
At the gym when people don't re-rack their weights. I'm like "is someone doing supersets/intervals, or did they just leave this here?" It causes us to watch the equipment and ask everyone if someone is indeed using it. The 45lb plates are also very heavy and not all of us can re-rack your crap without seriously risking hurting ourselves.0 -
1 - Not cleaning your machine when you're finished! Seriously! If I just sat there and watched you fling sweat all over a machine for the past hour, you better wipe that thing down. GROSS!
2 - People who buy all organic because it's health food and they're trying to lose weight. I mean, organic automatically equals healthy, right? *sigh*
3 - Food police. Don't worry about what I'M eating and whether or not I should be eating it.
OH, and people saying that muscle weighs more than fat. No. Just, no. A pound of muscle and a pound of fat both weigh a pound.0 -
Mine is all the people on here with profile pictures who are eating ice cream or have profile names of junk food, who post pics of pizza or ice cream, or have it in the tickers! Or talk about how much pizza and ice cream they eat! Don't they know we're trying to diet here! :sad:OH, and people saying that muscle weighs more than fat. No. Just, no. A pound of muscle and a pound of fat both weigh a pound.
Hehe yeah. 1 lb = 1 lb. I like to try and add the word density to their vocabulary.0 -
the fact that I'm still battle this pesky bodyfat..0
-
When people are uptight about healthy food, and pry into people's business. Like if someone wants to get a burger then leave them alone. I hate when people assume that just because you eat a candy bar or pizza that means you're a typical lazy fatty. Or if you see someone overweight sitting all day you assume they are lazy, but when they start to work out you still make fun of them for even trying. It's a lose lose situation.
I used to follow a girl on twitter who actually tweeted about how it's ''ironic'' that fat people go to the gym. :noway:0 -
When I'm at the gym, on one of the machines, and all the other ones are free... but then a stranger comes over and chooses a machine right next to me.
I AM AN AWKWARD PERSON. I AM SORRY, BUT THIS IS AWKWARD FOR ME.0 -
It's totally illogical of me to get so bent over it but I *hate* it when
1) some guys gets on the treadmill next to me and immediately cranks it up to faster than whatever I'm set at. I know, I know...why am I even looking at his speed...? It is pretty funny when they crash and burn after a few minutes because with the 30 minute time limit on the treadmill, I typically run at about 8.5 mph (7:03 mile).
and/or
2) gets on the treadmill, and proceeds to do 'intervals' varying the pace between 3.5 mph barely running, and 12 mph as fast as the machine will go.....And completely burns out after like FIVE 15 to 20-second intervals and quits. Usually to go do 74 sets of bench press.
3) People who pause the treadmill and then just leave without 'ending' it....and then it resumes the workout in 2 mins, spinning an empty belt.
4) My local YMCA has small TVs on the machines....sometimes people talk to the them while working out. Especially when it's sports. You know how distracting it is to be running/cycling along in my own little world to music and the a**hole on the next machine is shouting obscenities at the NFL game?
EDIT: these are really 'gym' pet peeves, not 'fitness' pet peeves.
My biggest general fitness pet peeve is when someone tells me that if exercise isn't 'hard' you're doing it wrong and its wasting your time.0 -
Apathy/lack of motivation.0
-
Mine BY FAR is when girls of a healthy body weight claim that they're fat. You might have a little bit of extra body fat, but that won't kill you!!! Especially as someone who has had weight problems since birth, I mean, just because you're not a twig doesn't mean you're fat!0
-
OH, and people saying that muscle weighs more than fat. No. Just, no. A pound of muscle and a pound of fat both weigh a pound.
LOL. You know what they mean.0 -

Some people, myself included, have favorite machines. If you happen to be on the one next to it, I'm jumping on! Plus, it's a rule that you race the person you're next to LOL0 -
When people in fitness classes make no attempt whatsoever to follow the instructor0
-
People at the gym using machines without put a towel between themselves and the machine!:explode: :noway:0
