 So my addiction is chocolate and I love it, this is partly why I have become so fat. But wanted to know if anyone has any suggestions for a sweet treat that can curb the craving?

Replies

  • I love small apples and mandarins.
  • Dates/blueberries/walnuts I love this as my alternative to cakes/cookies/chocolate.
  • Diet hot cocoa. It's like 25 cals, and you're still getting chocolate! :)

Add some dark chocolate to different treats. For example, add some cocoa powder to steamed milk for low-calorie hot cocoa. I also love chocolate protein powder in a smoothie with banana, peanut butter, and milk for a quick breakfast or snack. Adding some chocolate chips to oatmeal makes it a great dessert. Chocolate-dipped apples, bananas, pineapple, and strawberries are great too - sometimes I'll dip in granola or nuts after the chocolate. If you're going to bake, do it with someone, so you don't end up eating the entire thing yourself. Feel free to check out my diary for ideas - I eat chocolate pretty often.
  • Thank you all for your advice!

I eat a fiber one brownie every day... 2 benefits.... first, I get to eat chocolate!!! Second, well, its fiber.... so.... need I say more???? Anyway, it is not something that I have a hard time setting limits on how many I can eat... It is pre-packaged and really, you DO NOT want to eat too many of those things!! LOL (not because they don't taste good either)

I eat a couple of marshmallows, to help with a sweet. I know there are choclate flavored (never tried them, can't speak to the taste) ones.

Fiber One brownies are surprisingly good. I don't have too much of a sweet tooth, but when I do, these definitely help out a lot!

I have a huge thing for Clif Z bars. They're smaller versions of Clif bars, with 120-130 calories and designed for kids. They satisfy my chocolate cravings, especially the brownie one. They taste like a cross between a chocolate cookie and a fig newton. REALLY glad I've discovered these.

Also, I've had a habit for awhile of keeping semisweet chocolate chips on hand. I usually log them individually, lol...like 5-10 chips and often I'll pair them with something else (a very small portion of raisins or nuts)...that really satisfies and not a lot of calories.

I love chocolate chex cereal. I portion some out and have it daily. In one serving it's only 110 calories and it can last a while!

    Lowfat chocolate ice cream

Instant chocolate pudding made with 1% or skim milk

    Special K with chocolate cereal.

The Fiber one brownies really taste so much like brownies, that suggestion was a good one.
Also, I just wanted to add, have you tried working some chocolate into your diary? You can still have chocolate, so long as it fits into your day. I eat sweet treats pretty much every day, I just work it in.

I need to try one of these Brownies, they sound really nice!

Had a bit of chocolate last night, I know I can't dismiss it totally from my life, no way, or I'll want it all the time, so just a bit in the evenings with a cuppa tea :drinker:
