When you sign up MFP (my fitness pal) gives you a calorie guideline for you to follow daily. It's all based on your weight and height and what weightloss goal you've set for yourself. You eat those calories and whenever you exercize, MFP will add that to your calories that you can eat for the day as well. Everyone is different but it is important that you do eat as close to your calorie guide as possible. Good luck with your goals!0

When you signed up it would have asked for your current weight and your goal weight, also how much you'd like to lose per week, and how active your lifestyle is. It would have then tabulated that up and set a specific amount of calories you should intake (your net calories) These are the calories you eat in order to lose weight. You'd be at a deficit from your Maintenance calories (what it takes to keep your weight the same) and your net calories.
By sticking with your calorie intake and exercising you should lose weight.
