If I Can't Stick to Diet I Don't Eat, help!

Help! So I tried to do slow / low carb last spring & summer and I kind of found myself stuck. I felt so limited with the diet sticking to lean meats, legumes, and lots of veggies. It doesn't help that I've never been a fan of eggs but I was kind making myself eat them. It got to the point where if I felt I couldn't eat something that was diet approved I just wouldn't eat. I looked up tons of recipes and was cooking a lot for myself, but it just started to get so time consuming / inconvenient.

Any tips for a busy student that also works? I'm at 133-135 and I'm trying to get down to 115. As far as exercise goes I've always been really active with sports (volleyball, soccer, xc, basketball, etc. ) in highschool and even keeping up with soccer now in college. I'm really trying to regain my core definition and get my legs leaner ( they are super muscular but I just want them a little less bulky).

I know a lot of it is mindset and I tried to keep a super positive one, but I was feeling more trapped than anything else. I really want to try this again since I've been trying to up the ante with my workouts (now doing barre).

Stop trying to eat stuff you don't like and only eat "diet" foods. Log your food and eat whatever fits in your calorie goals. When you're done with school you can get all elaborate with cooking every meal, etc. if you want to but for now I wouldn't try to do such extreme changes.

So essentially try to follow the diet, but put more effort into staying within my caloric goals (1200) ? I feel like i've been stuck at 133-135 for months hah since some days I'm not hungry enough for breakfast or lunch but i'll have a small dinner and be fine :/

You may do better on a more staggered diet or some sort of intermittent fasting where you can be larger meals and you wouldn't have to restrain your types of food so much. As long as you maintain the same deficit over a week it doesn't exactly matter when u get the calories in. Try different approaches while maintaining a deficit.

I've done those diets where you can only eat certain things and ended up making myself pretty sick. There was one that involved mostly lentils and I stopped eating for a while and it was really bad. I think the best thing to do is to be aware of what you are eating and just try to eat less of it in general.

If you're doing a lot of stretching and cardio maybe reach for the lean proteins and complex carbs in general, but don't restrict yourself to things you hate just because they're supposed to help with weight loss.

Eat whatever foods you like....just eat less of them.

And you can eat more than 1200 calories. That's a hard number to stick to. Try figuring your your TDEE, and eating -10% of that. That makes the process easier on you. Read here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/912920-in-place-of-a-road-map-3-2013

Thanks for all the advice guys! Definitely going to look into figuring out my TDEE. I don't really have an issue staying around 1200 or a little over, and I am relatively active (gym / barre at least 3x a week usually 4x or 5x)
