In need of weekend help...

Soo...weekends are usually bad. I'm pretty good during the week. Staying active, doing at least housework or something to stay off the couch. The weekends though, my husband is home and I just don't feel like doing much. Some weekends we do get out and go do things (sightseeing etc.) and that adds to walking but not always. Anyways, any ideas on cheap or free things we can do that will get us out doing things but not seem too much like exercise?

go to the zoo, go to a big mall and window shop, take a walk in a scenic area, go to yard sales or swap meets, ride bikes, roller skate, just a few suggestions
  • You live in MN right? So winter is fast approaching....I would say try and take up new hobbies. Mainly indoor sports, go bowling, go to an indoor driving range or batting cages, maybe find some indoor tennis courts. Or even walk the mall. There's lots of stuff you can do to keep moving! Hope this helps!

Liking the idea of bowling. Malls are a good walk. I do that in the winter months. This may sound odd, but check out the local hospitals. Some times they offer classes that are reasonably priced for "fun" exercise. I took a class for Tai-Chi. It was a nice workout but did not feel like it!

Do you have a dog? I took ours to the dog park and it turned out to be a lot more exercise than I thought. I was actually sore the next day! I didn't have time for much today, so I walked our new larger dog around blocks. She was fast, so I had brought my ipod touch and timed us. I kept going around blocks until I at least went 30 minutes.

Outdoor cross country ski is some kick butt exercise for any age and level, in winter. Lots and lots of winter things to do.

Do you dance? Makes a fun date night, with water, or diet soda.

If you don't dance, maybe a park district or community college would offer a dance class you could take together.

Don't leave him out it's his weekend too.

Ask him for suggestions on something he would like to do. Believe it or not Golf is good exercise without the cart.
  • There nothing like a bike ride go to a near by trail.
  • Great job you go girl.
