eat late night or not?

I have about 400 calories left for today and had dinner about 6:30 pm. I didn't start getting the munchies until 11 pm. Should I wait for tomorrow or do I eat a small snack? bedtime will probably be and hour and a half from now.

    It doesn't matter when you eat, just stay within your calories. The whole thing about not eating after 7 p.m. is pure BS.

    I'd eat. I hate rolling around trying to fall asleep with a rumbly tummy.

    I would eat them if I thought sleep would be a problem without them. If not I would bank them for tomorrow.

    Eat! I eat every night, right before bed. A calorie is a calorie...doesn't matter when you consume it!

    Doesn't matter if it's 7pm or 11pm.. As long as you have figured out your calorie intake right, and you stay within your numbers, the time of eating is irrelevant

    if you're hungry today and have calories left, why would you wait for tomorrow to eat? don't fall for any of that "don't eat after X-o-clock bs"

    Are you going to have a hard time stopping?

    I've got 300 left today. I know that if I eat something, though - I'm tired. I'll probably end up going overboard and blow the day.

    Other than psychological type stuff, there's no reason not to eat. Look at your macros and decide if there's anything you want to plus up.

    If you're truly hungry, eat.

    If you've got the munchies because you're bored, brush your teeth and go to bed.

    I have 500 calories left. i'm not eating them back.. i'm not hungry though. The only thing I am having is a cup of chamomile tea. I seem to sleep better after a cup of tea.

    If you're hungry you should eat something. I would never go to bed hungry.

    I believe the only real issue with eating late is that if it's a heavy meal, you may have indigestion - if you're even prone to that. I have GERD so I try not to eat an hour or two before I sleep but really - it's not going to affect you weight wise. Calories are calories, regardless of what time you consume them.
  • Thanks for the awesome replies! I did eat since I don't want to go to bed starving. Apple slices with peanut butter... still have abt 140 for calories left but I was over that amount yesterday so that evens it out. Thank you all and goodnight!

    While I get the logic in not eating after a certain time, I agree with the above comments to eat if your hunger may prevent you from being able to sleep. When I feel the munchies at 11pm and it's borderline between true hunger vs mind-tricks, I just down a glass of water and go to sleep.
