i used to be a heavy pepsi drinker but stopped cause it was getting me so lazy (too much sugar) and i switched to just drinking water. but lately ive been drinking at most half a can of pepsi and feel guilty for doing it. has anyone still continue to lose weight and have some soda?

If it fits into your calorie allowance and your sugar allowance, I'd go for it.

Half a can a day? Pfffffffffff, you're fine hun. If it fits in your calories you can eat whatever you want. I find that soda tastes too chemically now for me, however, and don't enjoy it anymore. BLASPHEMY!

As long as you log it accurately, it's not "bad." I stopped thinking "bad" and "good" for foods because when I tell myself that I cannot have something, ever, I tend to binge later on. I'd rather acknowledge my craving for something "bad" and log it if I choose to consume it. It's all about control and moderation and self-discipline.

Sure, you can lose weight and drink soda.

Soda has absolutely no nutritional benefit, however, and all it will do is slow down your progress.

How exactly is it going to slow down their progress if it's within their goals?

The calories in the soda take the place of something, or should she drink the soda instead of eating food? I'm not a IIFYM expert, but what macro does soda help complete exactly?

ETA: I will concede, if you hit all your macros otherwise, the soda won't hinder your progress if it's within your caloric goals. But most that ask "is drinking soda bad for me" don't know about IIFYM, else they wouldn't be asking the question in the first place.

For those that don't follow IIFYM, they have no way of knowing whether soda could possibly fit into their "goals."
