Drinking lots of water will help you to feel full so you won't need to eat as much and eating lots of vegetables will allow you to eat more food without a ton of calories. Ultimately though, you'll just need to cut back on the amount of food that you eat. If you do it slowly while replacing any junk food with proteins, whole grains and vegetables, you won't feel like you're starving yourself.

Look at my diary - it is public and my goal is 1550 - I eat a lot and am always satisfied, yet never go over my calories.

To be honest, you will likely need to cut back on portions a bit, but here are some ways to still get more volume:

-load up on watery veggies (lettuce, cucumber, etc)
-get lots of fiber and water (this will make you feel fuller)
-choose lean proteins (like chicken breast)
-lay off sauces as much as possible

The other thing would be if you can cut it down to lets say 2000, and then exercise every day so you it will add calories you're allowed onto your total.
The thing is getting it down at least some. If you start at trying to only eat 3000 a day and do that for a week then go down to 2000 you may not feel like you're not getting enough. With that big of a difference it may take a little longer, but the exercise will help too! It's just about getting started! You'll be amazed at how much of the right stuff you can eat and still stay under 1500! Good luck!
  • Vegetables
    Fruit
    English Muffins
    Fiber bars
Hard Boiled Eggs (whites are the best)
    Egg Beaters
    Cottage Cheese
    Oatmeal
    Small Baked Potatoe
    Skim Milk
    Plain Yogurt
    Air Popped Popcorn
    Sugar Free Jello
    Sliced Chicken Breast
    Protein Bars/Drinks
    Laughing Cow Light Cheese Wedge
    No Sugar Added Applesauce

Try eating more fiber and drinking LOTS of water. Eat slower and put your food on a smaller plate. Try grazing instead of eating large portions. It takes 20 minutes at least for your body to recognize that you are full. You can take a drink of water in between bites to slow things down. Eat a small portion and then go do something else and if you are still hungry after an hour then get another small portion. Fiber, water, and protein are your best friends!

You are more than welcome to check out my diary also, but the calories are trimmed down by working out.
  • My daily calories are also 1500. I am doing well adjusting to that so far. I eat lots of fruits and veggies, cereal, soups, protein. etc.

Check out my diary as well. I'm mostly around 1500 to 1800 calories, well except for today and on Sundays at mom's. Most of the time I am way satisfied. I'm satisfied in my lack of hunger and I'm satisfied in pursuing my goal.

You will find eating the right foods; salads, salmon, steak, grilled skinless chicken, soups, veggies, fruit etc, are quite filling and will leave you with a ton of energy. Like others have said, water is also key. Sometimes we think we are hungry when we really need water.

portions are the key...try cutting your portions in half!!! that will save huge calories! also fill up on veggies, they are filling and very low in calories for the most part! water, water, water! and if all else fails try getting low calorie options on cheese, milk, bread, and even chips!! a lil bit of all of these things will help you feel like you aren't really cutting back and will help keep you fuller for less calories! good luck :)

Take and afternoon and go read labels at the grocery store. Find alternatives to what you love. Stick with FRESH foods (perimeter of grocery store) if possible - and COOK! Recipes are abundant here on the message boards but also on tons of websites soon you will be converting your recipes to "skinny" recipes like me! Eating small meals more often helps stave off hunger - be sure each includes some healthy fat, protein and carbs. Watch the sodium in soups and sliced meats, hot dogs and other foods. You get better at it the longer you do this! Good luck!
  • Decisions and choice. All these suggestions are absolutely terrific, but you have to decide to follow the advice and it's your choice to do what you need to do to get the results you want.

I always make sure to eat a huge salad with both lunch and dinner. With dressing, each salad is less than 60 calories because I only have veggies in it, no cheese or croutons or anything. I have read here that your meals should be 50% non-starchy veggies, 25% starch and 25% lean meat. If you follow this and don't use heavy sauces, you will find it hard to get in enough calories! My diary is public and I get about 1440 a day, plus exercise. This last week has not been great, but I have stayed close to my calories every day. Feel free to take a look.

I eat 1340 calories a day. I am very satisfied and eat 5 meals a day. 2 are tiny meals, just snacks. It can be very easy to find snacks and foods lower in calories. You need to research. I eat egg whites only, saves calories, eats lots of fruits and veggies. Snack on popcorn if you want! Just don't load it up with crap. Drink A LOT of water. Sometimes your stomach growls because you're thirsty, not hungry. Mainly, eat small portions. Eat SLOW so your body has time to tell your brain when you're satisfied. Don't eat until you're so full you can't breathe. Eat until you're satisfied. Your stomach will adjust to lower portions.
