Should I do Slimming World?

I am looking for advice from anyone - for and against please if you have an opinion!

I have done MFP on and off for the last year or so(trying to lose a 14 lb that I lose and gain) but really am finding myself being unhealthy whenever I am to reduce my calories to lose weight! I always end up eating next to nothing and not actually eating meals in order to keep my calories down. So, I am wondering if I might be better trying something like slimming world so that I can eat hearty warm meals (its cold here and I love to eat warming wintery stews etc) and not have to worry about the calories but more of the not mixing certain foods. I also thought that it might stop me gaining the weight again as soon as I eat a meal (which is what is happening because of my poor habits on calorie counting!

Could anyone shed me any advice on this, as I do not want to pay out to join to only find out its not right for me.

I am in the UK and I do NOT want to go to a club, I prefer to join online

Many Thanks for reading my post

There is a simple to trick to lose and keep it off. Set your calories per day to the weight you want to be, then just eat 200 calories less per day.

I've never done slimming world, but I have done WW. Before you spend out on SW wht don't you try planning your meals in advance for a week or two on MFP first? That way you could still make your hearty stews etc, work out the calories using the recipe section, and then plan your week ahead, meals, snacks, everything you intend to eat. Seeing everything in black and white might help you to stick to it.

    Edited to add:
I think the main point of things like SW and WW is the weekly meeting. Having to weigh infront of everyone else (even when your weight is kept private) is all part of the motivation to keep you on track. Doing it online, even if you post your weight, is different because its easier to feel less accountable. And therefore your more open to cheeting. Just my thoughts.

    Thanks Kate1500

I think I might try that. My problem is seeing the figures in black and white - a slice of bread 100 cals or something. It just make' s me want to cut things completely in order to keep way down on calories. I know its wrong but I just cannot help myself. I really want to make myself eat 3 meals a day instead of grabbing a cereal bar when I am starving.

I would go to a meeting but I do not have the chance to go to the one near me as it is not held at a convenient time.

I think the truth of it is I am sick of looking at food as a number. I am so impatient and only want the results fast! I know its down to me to change it though.
Thanks for the advice though x

Then why not plan your meals week or two in advance and then write a 'menu' for each day. You can list the foods but not the calories etc, that way you wouldn't have the figures 'looking' at you all the time.

I couldn't handle the thought of weighing infront of everyone, so I just got the WW booklet and worked my points out from that. It worked for me in the short term, but when I had bad days I just ate what I wanted because I knew that I wouldn't have the embarasment of having gained because I wasn't going to the meetings. The shame factor might have made me stick to it for longer:blushing:

Good luck with what ever you decide to do. x
