I started running last fall and just completed my first marathon last month. After being inspired by the stories below, I will be adding chocolate milk to my training plan. I hope to make the jump from 26.2 to 140.6 in the next few years!

As of February of this year Hines Ward never ran more than 1 mile at one time. This month he became an Ironman (swim 2.4 miles, bike 112 miles, and run 26.2 miles = 140.6 miles of awesome)

"I'm hoping to be an inspiration to those sitting on their couch. I'm living proof to do this. I know I was in football shape, but I never ran more than a mile, and now I'm competing in the Ironman."

At 16 years old, Chrisann was diagnosed with chronic asthma, but she has not let that get in the way of her athletic dreams. “I want to prove to my kids that if you want something in life, you go after it. You become your dream by wanting it more than anything that might get in your way.”

"Success doesn’t come from becoming what we think a triathlete should be, but becoming the best triathlete we can be. That means racing true to yourself and your personality. It is all about being you - go celebrate the journey."

Thanks for posting this. I started running last summer, and I'm in no way ready for even a half, so I'm incredibly impressed that you achieved a marathon in that space of time!

Just started running and love it. With my knees talking to me this morning, I needed to read this - and I need to drink some chocolate milk too! :drinker:

    Thanks for the runspiration!

I watched the Iron Man coverage with my wife and Hines Ward said something about being surprised at hard it was. I said to my wife that I couldn't get over how hard it is to run 10 miles at a good clip, never mind an Iron Man. I don't think I made my point very well. Only a runner would probably get my meaning anyway.

I follow up a lot of my runs with this:

Hot Chocolate in the cooler weather / cold in the warmer weather

    6 oz nonfat milk
    2 oz half and half
1.5 T Ghiardelli dark chocolate cocoa
    1.5 T raw sugar

    Good luck and have fun!
