Okay...so I'm going to decide what Heart Rate Monitor to buy...either the PolorF4 or F6. Which would you guys recommend. The price is fairly close. I just don't know if one's better than the other. Any advice here would be great. I want something easy to use.

And another question: Is the Blue Ice really blue (does anyone have it?)?? That's the F4 one I was looking at but want something I can wear everyday. I thought it looked more white than blue...which is what I'm hoping.

I have the Polar F6... I love it! I was going to get an F4 but I had a $15 off coupon for the store I was going to so I decided to get the F6 instead. It is really simple to program and to use. It even sends a message at the end of the week with total calories burned for the week, average heart rate, and maximum heart rate. I got the pink one... it is a very light pink. I saw the blue F4 in the store and I really liked the color... it was very light as well. I hope this helps!

Whichever you get, you will love it! It has really made a difference in the accuracy of calories burned, and I find I push myself harder when I exercise to reach a certain number of calories burned for the day.

Thanks natalie! I was looking at the pink F6. I love the green one...my FAVORITE color, but I think it's too much to wear everyday. But the pink one would probably be perfect. So...is that one that has a program on the computer? Or is it all on the watch...I don't really understand all this. If I get one, I may be asking you for some help.

Great question Kristin! I was having the same trouble, deciding which one was better. Once I decide between the F4 or F6, THEN I have to pick a color!! Sheesh! I love the green one but might have to get the subdued (aka boring) black. I work at a bank (= conservative). Blech.

Isn't the world just better in bright colors!?! Yeah...I think I'm probably going to get the F6 in the pink. But I still need to look into them a little more. I want to be happy with it...which I'm sure I will be. Just a little scared. Will definetely be the most I've ever spent on a watch...can you believe it? I don't wear much other than cheap jewelry and the only expensive things on me are my wedding rings. So...need to think about it a little more.

Any other advice is good. I can use it all!!!

I just bought the F4 on ebay... from a reputible seller. I can't wait to get home and try it out. We're on a road trip right now. Talk about killing your diet and exercise routines!
I looked at both the F4 and F6. I am a small person, well going to be, what I meant to say is that I'm short and I've got skinny wrists, so I bougt the F4 because it was the Women's specific one as they put it. I can't wear anything that's bulky or I'll stop using it!

    Good luck with your choice!

I was just thinking about this topic this morning. I know absolutely nothing about these, although I did learn more after a visit to the Polar site. I think the F4 would work well for me...really like the pink one! Any thoughts/suggestions??? Thanks!

I didn't see that the F4 came in pink. The F6 does.

Honestly, I'm not sure if it has a program for the computer... I just bought it last week and really haven't read the entire manual. The information I gave in the above post is just information from the watch.

I loved the green and that's what I wanted, but they were out and I was too impatient to wait... and I really do like the pink.

Let me know what you decide... it is by far the best purchase I have made for this healthy living journey!

When I first got my HRM I bought an F4 and within a WEEK I decided to upgrade to the F6. Honestly it's hugely worth the little extra bit. I didn't think it would make a huge difference when I was first researching but it really does. F6 all the way baby! lol

What is the big difference to make the change so soon?

I bought the F6 about a month ago for 60 dollars on ebay and that was with shipping! Ebay was having this 10% discount on your next purchase coupon thing and I used it after finding a pretty good deal! Its fairly easy to use...it just took some playing around for about 20 min. when I got it to get used to the buttons. I got it in pink and I love it and use it everyday when I exercise! Its a great motivator!

The F6 does work with your computer its called SonicLink. It also has the OwnCode which means you won't get interference from other HRMs if you're at the gym or working out with someone else who uses one.

I'm not sure if you plan on wearing it all the time or not but I thought I'd tell you that it is kind of large. It's not a cute little watch. I was actually surprised at how big it was when I got mine. Didn't make a difference to me since I only wear it when I'm working out.
  • Okay...so I'm going to decide what Heart Rate Monitor to buy...either the PolorF4 or F6.

I have the F4 in ice blue and would describe it more as a mid grey colour. I like it and it is a colour you could wear everyday. I think the F6 does a few more things and comes highly recommended. One big difference is the F4 might pick up other people's readings and the F6 comes with a special transmitter that doesn't run that risk??? Mine was a gift, and I love it, but have read the F6 is slightly better.

I posted this elsewhere, but what ever one you by the following website helps make the set up much easier if you are like me and HATE reading manuals. It literally walks you through every step.

    www.polarca.com

    Good luck.

Okay, well I'm glad I got the F4 then... I don't work out at the gym. I only need it for my workouts I do in the livingroom. I'll be swimming in our pool too, so it should come in handy fo that. But it comes with the other features like OwnCal, the zone pointer... things that will do. Maybe when my kids get older and I actually venture back out into the world I'll need an upgrade. But it was a good price. $66.00+shipping. Better than the $95 price tag on the polar website.

I have the F4. I do agree that it does pick up other readings if you exercise too close to a person wearing a HRM.
The few times I did run with my friend, I had to wear my hrm on the opposite arm and run behind her so my HRM didn't get screwy. I don't have gym membership yet so I don't know how it works there.

I think that difference alone is worth the extra $20. Don't get me wrong, I love my F4 and the features it has are perfect but I would prefer a HRM that doesn't interfere with others.

I just went to the polar site and compared the two features... it looks like the main differences are...

    ??

F6 has own zone F4 doesnt (what's that though? LOL)

    F6 has Own Code, F4 doesnt (what's that? )

F6 has an exercise diary.. F4 doesnt

F6 has the coded transmitter, F4 has the regular transmitter. Is the coded transmitter the thing that makes it NOT interfere with others?

SOrry for the stupid questions, just trying to make a wise purchase lol.

Tanzmama... I have the F6, and I love it. I don' t go to a gym, but I think the coded transmitter is what makes it not interfere with other HRMs or gym equipment. The exercise diary is really cool too!

Thanks for all of the information and suggestions. Originally I was going to go with the F4 because of the smaller size, but I spend a lot of time in the gym so I'm thinking I need to get the F6 due to the interference factor. Thanks again for all your help.

The OwnZone determines your HR. You turn it on and exercise for 5 minutes and at the end it tells you what your target zone is. It's more accurate than just entering the numbers into the computer (only slightly though) since it is based on how your heart is actually beating. You can redo it as you get in better shape.

Owncode means that other transmitters don't interfere. The coded transmitter is the same thing but its in the chest strap.

Even if you aren't working out with other people right now I think its worth the money to get the F6. You never know what you might do in the future and who wants to have to buy a new HRM later?
