Hard to stick to daily sugar allowance when eating healthy!

Hi everyone!

I've been doing insanity the last couple months (into week 9 eeek!) and I have a fairly stable diet as in I eat the same thing most days (getting very boring). I have been tracking my calories and macros in MFP but only this week noticed the more detailed breakdown you can get on food.

What this told me what that I am way over on my sugar allowance each day, the target is 28g and today I'm already on 56g! This is a result of an apple, a banana, a portion of red grapes, non fat greek yoghurt and salad. How are you supposed to stick to the sugar limit when you blow it eating healthy stuff?!

Does anyone else have this problem? I don't really want to change my diet (bit pointless now as about to finish the program and have managed to lose fat anyway) but just wondering if I am eating too much fruit/greek yoghurt and I should have eaten less over the last couple months to stay within the MFP daily sugar limit?

Thanks

Unless you have a medical condition that requires monitoring it, ignore it. Maybe track fiber or something instead?

MFP puts all sugars together so it's basically a useless piece of information. Trade it out for something useful like fiber that you can actually work on.

Sugar from a piece of whole fruit is a very different thing from refined sugar or high fructose corn syrup. If you are getting sugar from fruit.... keep going!

Humans and human ancestors have been eating fruits forever. We never got fat from fruit. We only started eating refined sugar in the 1400s/1500s when it became affordable on the open market. That is when the obesity clock began ticking. Don't worry about your sugar intake as long as it comes from whole food sources.

If you are losing fine then don't worry about the sugar - especially if it is from healthy foods. It is definitely something to keep an eye on though.

Humans did used to get fat from eating fruit. Fruit was not available year round for our ancestors and they would load up on it instinctively when they could. They'd gain in the late summer/fall & do without all winter. We were really not meant to eat unlimited amounts of fruit on a daily basis year round. Some people find they eat too much fruit & it does cause them to gain.
