Body positive friends?

I'm new & need friends! I was hoping to meet some like minded people :flowerforyou:
I don't want to 'hate' myself thin or look at patronising 'fitspo' pics. For me, fitspo is just another way of telling women how to look, and I think the whole 'strong is the new sexy' thing is BS.
I don't want to be told to "put down the barbie weights" or that my butt is only a good butt if I squat - I can workout however I like, thanks! Anyone else feel the same way? Add me

While I AM trying to gain a bit of muscle, and DO like fitspo, I want to chime in- I completely understand your frustration. Opinions are like........ everybody has one. If you do not want to be muscular or toned, that is no one's business, and what you want to look like is 100 percent your choice. You should never "hate yourself thin" if you are at a healthy place - I think the only way this comes up is when someone is trying to do something unhealthy. If you are within a healthy weight, and happy with how you look, GO FOR IT! I think the only time people start saying anything is when it goes out of a healthy range and there is a cause for concern healthwise.
To give you the flip side, I am trying to gain muscle because I personally like being stronger and like the look of muscular women, and my family and friends also have SO much negative to say about it. "Don't you want to be feminine?" "Why are you lifting when you could do cardio?" ... my point is, that no matter what you do, there will be people that disagree. Do what is best for you (as long as you are being healthy, of course), and $!*#O$% their opinions.0 -

Well, I have nothing against wanting to look muscular. My point is that women should be able to look any way that want without people commenting about it. I want a slim, slightly muscular look.
I hate the whole idea of muscles not being feminine. I can't even subject myself to that kind of talk. Body policing in general just makes me really, really annoyed.0 -

Exactly. I am sure I rambled, and did not make my opinion come across, but what I was trying to say is that it is absurd when someone tells you what you should look like. "Body policing" is what I was talking about in my last paragraph- the fact that no matter what you are doing, there will always be someone criticizing. Whether you want to look "slim", "muscular", "bulky", "thin", "curvy", "fit:.. whatever you want to accomplish, someone will have *something* to say. And it really doesn't matter as long as YOU as the person living in your body, is happy with what they are doing. My belief is that you need to live your life in a manner that suits you, and do whatever you like. That is why I responded, even though we are trying to accomplish different goals- we are not that different- we are both working towards our goals, and we don't wish to hear that there is something wrong with that goal based on what is in fashion right now.0 -
I think we can definitely be friends! I feel exactly the same. I also hate being told what kind of exercise is the 'right' kind or how much I should be doing.
I'm not going to pretend I've never looked at a picture of another woman and wanted to look like her but generally these days I think I'm pretty happy with my own body. I'm here because I want to be as fit and healthy as possible. And yes, I want to look good but in a way that's right for me, not someone else.0 -
I am 100% bodyposi, I have worked over the past couple of years and I have finally achieved 100% self love (although somtimes I do have my bad days). Add me as a friend if you like Im always here for talk or support if anyone needs!0

Feeling super motivated and supportive at the moment so feel free to add me and we can help each other out! I don't see the point in being 'friends' to judge or criticise. But at the same time I wonder when some people are posting that they've eaten like 400 cals that day, am I supposed to tell them it's really low and probably bad for them? Or stick to 'each to their own?'
