Hey all,

I can't believe we are coming up to November, and there are 2 months to go in this year. It's so exciting, and so many great changes will be coming along!

Here's the chart for this week: Congrats to our biggest loser, Tamelab! Great job everybody, and keep up the good work!

Week7.jpg

I guess other people are busy with the holiday weekend. I will try my best to stay away from candies, and halloween treats. I have a race this sunday, a 5M race, but I still have a bit of discomfort on my foot, so I might give it a rest.

I've been slacking with my workouts- I can't wait to start them again and get my mojo back.

What are your plans this week blues?

This morning laying in bed I realized that I didn't get my weight to you. Sorry! Long day of work (14 hours). Planning to enjoy my Saturday now though!

I would love to get involved with your group as far as weightloss goes. The competitive factor helps so much!!! Please let me know if that's possible or if it's too late. Thanks!

arorra you are welcome to join! Just send your weight in to MayLan every Friday morning to get on the chart and join in on our conversation!

Well drum roll please.... It is a boy!

All healthy... he is a stubborn one though kept laying in wierd positions making it difficult to see what the techs were wanting to see. We are going to announce to our family tomorrow with cupcakes with a blue filling. It's going to be a lot of fun! Everything definitely is more real--although now I feel the need to find a name, which is never easy for me!

Have a great holiday everyone! Don't eat too much candy, just a few pieces...

    Good morning Blues,

smadag: have a great time tonight :D

So my weekend was interesting. I won a trip to Punta Cana for two. I'm trying to find out who I am going to take with me now. Seeing as the only person that really popped into my mind was my ex, I am now trying to find some people that are available to go with me when I can go. Conflicting school/work schedules. I now have more motivation to get back on track.

My goal for this week is to get more vegetables and fruit in daily. My body has been lacking significantly and I am starting to feel it.

I could swear I sent a check in - sorry!

Going to doc today for my back/shoulder....didn't sleep at all last night. Hurts like CRAZY to run.

    Debnu-congrats on the baby boy!!

Didn't overdue on candy BUT made a peach cobbler yesterday because we grilled out with friends....tasted great and we had fun but puts me back in the same vicious cycle of gaining everything I lost during the week back over the weekend....my goal this week - to not blow it any day this week....Monday - Sunday will all be GREAT, healthy days!
  • Good morning team! GEEZ....I can't believe how bad I have been about checking in and stuff. It has been crazy in our little lives! Hopefully this week will prove to be much better!

Had a great week-end. Spent last watching my 2 youngest, my brother and my husband, scaring the crap out of the little ones as they came to our door! They had a great time. And of course some of the girls would just scream to have the boys chase them. HA! It was fun.

My goal this week is to make smart choices. I have not been doing that and it is going to be tough with all the left over candy here at the office and at home. OH....myself and the other 2 girls in my office dressed as Alvin and the Chipmunks on Friday. It was a hoot. They have a Treat Street for all the kids around the downtown businesses. They loved us and most knew who we were!

Well....here's to everyone having a great Monday!

I have way tooo much candy around the house!! I am going to send some of it to my daughter's teacher as she wants prizes to give to kids...Not the healthiest, but at least it will be dolled out in small amounts.

Here is a great quote for today!!

"Worrying does not empty tomorrow of its trouble, it empties today of its strength." – Unknown

    I sure needed that today!

Thanks for the congrats! We are excited.

Have a wonderful day, and don't forget your vegies! (that is mostly for me... )

    Hey fitness buddies,

debnu- congrats to on your baby boy. Wish you a continued great pregnancy and delivery.

smadag- zumba sounds fun, and even better with a friend. I have yet to try a class.

tigermom- Alvin and the chipmunks costumes- that is so cute!

maneyes- a trip for 2 to punta cana....that's divine. Congratulations! I'll be in DR around May or June with my family. That's where my family is from. Enjoy your upcoming trip, and like you said, more inspiration to you!

arrora- Welcome to the group! We would love to have you! We have weigh ins on fridays, and you can PM them to me.

To everybody: great job, and keep up the good work. I appreciate each one of you!

Congrats debnu! So happy for you.

Chrissy - hope you feel better soon.

    Ann - welcome back!

arrora - welcome to the group!

To everyone else - sending happy thoughts your way for a fabulous week!

My first day back to work with the students was today (Friday was a workday). Overall, not too bad. One student was out, so we'll see how it goes when he comes back. Teaching students with special needs is definitely a challenge!

Hope you all have a great week! Don't know how often I'll be checking in with it being my first week back and all, but I'll be thinking of you guys!

debnu- Congrats!! And what a cute idea to do cupcakes with blue frosting in the middle - I love it! Here's to his health and happiness! (And yours!) :drinker:

smadag- I've always wanted to try Zumba, I'm glad you had a good time. All the classes in NYC seem so expensive, I've yet to find one that I can just test if I like it or not.

tigermom- Alvin and the chipmunks sounds amazing! Definitely one of the best costumes I've heard about!

maneyes- Punta Cana! Lucky lucky lucky! And whoever you chose to go with you will be thrilled, no worries!

arrora- Welcome! It's never too late! Glad to have you!

cah - I have a few friends who work with special needs children and they always talk about the challenges but gush about the rewards. Hopefully you get some of those rewards soon - you are doing a GREAT thing. It takes a really special person to work where you are.

Halloween weekend was crazy and wonderful. Was down in DC for the Rally to Restore Sanity and had a hard time eating well until I found an Au Bon Pain which was wonderful. It was still a great day and I met lots of amazing people. Sunday I went trick or treating with a family I work for. The four year old girl was an angel and the cutest thing and the 7 year old boy was Gene Simmons from Kiss and he got TONS of compliments. Halloween on the Upper East Side is CRAZY. Kids as far as the eye can see trying to make it up to packed doorways for a piece of candy. I kept thinking the four year old was going to be crushed but she seemed to be enjoying herself so I tried not to hover. It made me miss my suburban trick or treating though, that's for sure.

Managed to stay away from the candy - just a small packet of candy corn a mom gave me for returning her lost kid (there was a lot of that). Oh and the best costume I saw - a 2 year old dressed as curious George sitting on the shoulders of her dad as the Man in the Yellow Hat. Adorable.

Happy November! Here's to a clean start for a whole new month! I'm starting the Slim in Six program. Anyone done it before?

debnu- I love the idea of the cupcakes!

smadag- glad you liked Zumba. You could always get a DVD to do at home when the church isn't doing it

    tigermom-I love the Chipmunks!

    maneyes-So yes, I am jealous!

    arrora- Hi and Welcome!!!

cah - I admire what you do! That's amazing!

MTDork-I would love to see pictures of Gene Simmons! That's great!

Doing OIK this week - considering my back as me not exercising I've done alright I don't feel out of control - I HAVE THE POWER! (He-Man)

Thanks for all the congrats! As far as the cupcakes go I thought I was being somewhat original and then come to find out my cousin who is due a month ahead of me did the same idea. Go figure...Way to still my thunder.... Or I guess I copied them without knowing it. It was fun though. We frosted the tops blue and pink and made everyone choose before they ate it. The problem was that I can't talk about the baby without saying he--so I kinda gave it away to a couple people. :ohwell:

Happy Wednesday all...Having a rough week. My food intake is okay but I missed my class today. I'm very stressed. I will try to get in some exercise this evening but it is definitely grocery day so I will do my best. Hope you all have a good day.

I'm back on track today and have planned my meals accordingly. I need some organization in my life to be able to exercise in the morning and plan my meals. I seem to have been eating really badly, b/c of job changes, and other life stuff. But, I'm here, back on track, I know I can do this. This is my new life and I'm here to learn and see how to live it well.

    Have a great Wednesday, all!

I got on the scale yesterday and despite the fact that I started TOM the scale hasn't moved. That makes me think I have lost a little because normally the scale would have gone up about 5 pounds so I am hoping that means a loss. I will check next week when TOM goes away.

I have been slacking on my C25K because the weather and I think I am a little scared to run down my road because of the dogs that chase me, can someone please give me a kick in the backside I know Chrissy runs in the rain so I guess I should get my big butt out there and do it too. :drinker:

get some pepper spray for the dogs...I wouldn't run near them either

I really miss running like I was - hopefully a couple more rest days and my back will be up for it. Hoping to walk at least 3 days this week.

Chrissy I want to know were you got the pink pepper spray

If the rain stays away for the rest of today I will go out tonight before it gets dark I promise and I always keep my promises

smadag - I never ran in the rain until a week of it hit the city and I finally got fed up and went out when it was drizzling. I have to say that it was my best running experience ever. I usually run in central park which is a mob scene but in the rain it was just hard core runners and it made me feel like I was in some sort of special club. It totally boosted my confidence in running and I don't regret it - even if dealing with my soaking running shoes was a bit annoying for the next few days.

Today I'm going out to eat with my boyfriend because we've been like ships passing in the night lately, only seeing each other when we are both exhausted at bed time. I've saved up 800 calories but I'm going to want to have some wine too so I'm going to go do some slim in six videos. I'm still on Start it Up! but I might add the ab workout as well for extra calories to help with tonight.

Hope everyone is getting on track and staying motivated!

    oh, and for chrissyh:

Just got back from my run and it was freezin until I got my body temp up and then it felt great.

I am going to have to find a new running path because there are too many free roaming dogs on my street and I was scared the whole time, so I guess I will go back to running around the high scholl football field. Days like this I hate living in the country.

I found mine at D!ck's Sporting goods. It's called Hot Pink Mace Defense Spray - about the size of a lipstick and a half

    Great job on the ruN!

Morning all...Back to boot camp for me today. I have had a very stressful week. I've had to deal with fraud regarding my checking account. I had to close an account that has been open for 13 years. What a mess. I think we finally have it straightened out but it took a lot of time and sleepless nights! I am sending the rest of this Halloween candy with hubby and kids today. I am grabbing a piece every time I walk through the kitchen, which really adds up. I have been trying to track it on my food diary but that is a joke. I'm chewing faster than I can log it lol. Hope you are all doing well. It's almost FRIDAY!!!

P.S. Today I try out my new HRM. I'll let you know how it does.

    MayLan Posts: 1,514 Member
tamelab- Have fun with your new HRM. I know I love mine and just love seeing the numbers.

MTDork- I love running in central park, because there are other people doing the same thing and I don't feel like the only one doing it. Enjoy your night tonight with your boyfriend and have a great workout.

chrissyh- Rest up your back and I know you'll be back in no time.

smadag- Sorry, I don't know any good running paths. I usually try to run where there are people around my neighborhood. But I do hate that there are dogs freely roaming- but what are you gonna do about it- I don't know. Enjoy your day.

So, I have been bad lately, but it's just I've been putting myself second. I love myself so I will be back to 1st place and I'll be taking care of my body. Yesterday I did great on food, and my body needed around 1400 calories, so I had that. Today I have planned my meals and feel pretty good. I find that I need to eat something-even if small- every 3 hours. Tonight I'm going to volleyball classes for 4 hours. I had no idea it burned some good calories, so I'm excited about that. I'm going to keep my weigh in the same tomorrow, but starting next week, it will be whatever shows up in the scale. Back to reality for me and feeling good.

    Have a great day everyone!
  • Good morning all!

Bad week!!! And next week doesn't look any less stressful! EGADS. My office has a contract on a new building and we are trying to get everything ready for our Board Meeting today which they will either accept or decline everything! Pray that things go well.

Next week is production week for our HS Musical "Pirates of Penzance". Our youngest is a freshman and has his debut on Wednesday night. He has been involved in theatre for several years in our local Children's Theatre but this is his first HS play. We are all very excited but it is nerve racking. Especially since he has one of the lead parts "The Pirate King" I have never seen this play before so have no idea what we are in for other than he says he went from a Mad Indian (summer play was Pocahontas and he was Keokum) to a spastic pirate! HA!!! We just laugh at him. Hope all goes well for them and our HS Director who also does the Children's Theatre, is absolutely wonderful and how she gets the kids to perform like she does is beyond me.

So....needless to say my eating habits over this week have not been good! And I agree with Tammy .....the Halloween candy has got to go! GEEZ!!!

Well, hope everyone has a wonderful Thursday.

I just got back from boot camp. We did the P90X plyometrics today and it took us about an hour. The HRM said I burned roughly 700 calories but that sounds high. I currently weigh 161 and I am 5'3" tall. Anybody have experience with HRM's and know if this sounds right? Thanks!

Ann...Good luck with the play. That sounds fun.

Smadag...Hope you find a good place to run.

Chrissy...Hope your back feels better soon. I am going to get some of the pepper spray too. Thanks!

Maylan...Have fun at volleyball. I love burning calories when I am having fun doing it!
