When should I check my weight?

I promised myself that I would check my weight after I complete 1 month of P90X. I'm on week 4 now and the thing is, I ate pretty bad 2 days ago, and ate bad again today. Now that thanksgiving is coming up I'm pretty sure I'm going to eat a lot and then on the weekend I'm going to my cousin's birthday and I'm pretty sure that I will be drinking and eating a lot again... Now that I have a week left until I get to check my weight I feel like it would be a bad idea to check after all of the bad eating that I've done and will do soon... Should I wait a little longer than a month? I don't want to see a gain on the weighing scale...

Well, when I don't do very well, I always weigh myself to see where I'm at. If you're not comfortable with that, weigh yourself after a week of being completely back on track. If you wait a whole 'nother month, then you might not be as motivated to get right back on track diet-wise.
Do good for the next couple days, and eat modestly at Thanksgiving dinner. Obviously have a big dinner, but maybe limit yourself to light things beforehand. Drink plenty of water, and get back on track after that. Good luck!0 -

I am planning on eating right for the next couple of days and I was thinking if I should check my weight the morning of thanksgiving instead. That would mean that I'm checking my weight a little before a whole month. Do you think that would be a better idea?0 -
This is more of a psychological question than anything. If you are the type to get easily upset if you do not like the number then wait. Your focus right now should be on your training and enjoying Thanksgiving!
If you like data and will not allow it to ruin your holiday or your training then weigh in as planned.
For the record, I weigh myself every morning when I wake up and track my seven day rolling average. Your weight can vary dramatically from day to day due to hydration, glycogen levels, etc. This is why I weigh in often and track my rolling average for a more accurate picture of my progress. My weight has been stable (near goal) all year.0 -
I'll give you the one true rule..its once a week, after your morning constitution aka letting the kids off at the pool, in your birthday suit, in the morning.
Oh and make sure you were hydrated the day before and didnt do any strenuous exercise0 -

Yeah I do get easily upset when I see a high number on the weighing scale. I used to check my weight every morning too but I stopped because I never saw a loss. It fluctuated a lot between 1-3 lbs. I thought that waiting a whole month to finally check my weight would be a good idea after starting a new program and trying to consistently eat 1600 calories. I'm really curious now though to see how much I weigh. 3 weeks without checking is such a long time for me! I just hope I don't get upset if I don't see what I want to see on the scale.0 -
I weigh myself once a week on Saturdays after using the bathroom. This keeps it pretty consistent as there is no fluctuation from water weight or food intake when you first wake up.0

I weigh myself daily just to stay on track-do what you feel confortable doing-but once aweek at the same time on Mondays I put my weight on tracker-0

I went away on a trip recently and when I got back I weighed myself and I had gained 5 lbs. There's no way I gained 5 lbs of fat in 3 days. But I wasn't able to drink much water on the trip and I did eat a lot of salty foods along with some alcohol. Definitely went over my calories, but not that much. Point is, it's just water weight. I didn't get upset over it, I just got back on track when I got home and weighed myself again the following weekend. Water weight can cause your weight to swing quite a bit, even throughout one day.0 -

When you checked your weight again the following weekend was that a couple of days? I'm thinking about eating right for a couple more days and then check my weight.0 -
Well, this works for me (and it does not mean that it works for other)..
I actually weight myself every morning. I dont take it seriously but I do keep track of it. To see where I am.
This is because I tend to gain 5-6 lbs during my period (~3 days before/after). All the best!0 -
I suggest weighing yourself tomorrow or Wednesday. Weighing yourself might help you put limits on your bad eating. If you see the number, you might be encouraged to keep yourself in check a little more so that you don't gain any (or any more).
Also, if you weigh yourself tomorrow, then weigh yourself after your anticipated time of "bad" eating/behavior, then you can determine how much you gained during that period instead of trying to speculate what you've gained in this short time period.. You can also determine whether some of its water weight.0 -
Definitely think you should check it
I weigh in every Friday but I do occasionally weigh in through out the week.0 -
I think if you weigh yourself before Thanksgiving and don't like what you see, you may throw in the towel. Knowing you'll be weighing yourself after may cause you to be more careful!0

I weigh every day, but don't do that if it's going to upset you to see that the scale does go up sometimes. Weight fluctuates even when there is an overall downward trend. I don't count calories, so weighing is the main way I check that I'm on track.0
