Hi! I have been SO hungry and wanting to binge! I have been eating some oatmeal to try to tide myself over until dinner in an hour. I seriously just want to binge, but I know it is not worth it! Please encourage me not to!

Don't do it it's not worth it! just think how rubbish you will feel after if you do and how great you will feel tomorrow morning if you don't. Be strong you can do it!0

Are you eating enough calories? I had mine set way too low. I was wanting to binge, too. I just increased them yesterday back to my TDEE or maintenance level. I had it there for weeks and weeks and never had the urge to binge. My body was getting all it needed. I listened to that inner self telling me I had to lower my calories and I did. Not a good idea. So now I know for sure that I need to keep my calories set at my TDEE and work out and not eat my exercise calories back. Make sure your macros are set right. There are plenty of calculators out there. Listen to your body. It's trying to tell you something.0

get out for a walk. start a project. organize something. dance. drink water or tea. call a friend. paint your fingernails (perhaps more applicable if you are a woman--maybe not). read some motivational and inspirational stories on MFP.0

Have dinner now? And I agree with the other poster, are you sure you are eating enough calories?0

I eat 1500 calories a day plus exercise calories back. I am trying to lose the last five, so my deficit is small. I also am on the tail end of my cycle (maybe this is why?). ugh! THANKS EVERYONE for the help0

Make sure you've had enough water!
I get the hungry horrors BAD when I haven't had enough to drink.
Have some tea. Don't have any? Get out of the house and get some!
DONT have what you're craving. Because you're already wanting to BINGE it'll probably send you over the edge.
Throw on your sneaks, move your butt. Sometimes that helps. You could call someone, too. The distraction could help. Good luck to you! And if you do end up faltering a bit, don't let it get you down. Jump right back on that train!0 -

Haha yeah probably. I went over my calories because of that last week. No regrets.
But yes when it happens I just have an early dinner (I had dinner at 5pm yesterday!). Or I make frozen veggies or something.0 -
Sorry I wasn't there for you yesterday. I hope you took the advice and upped your calories some. One thing I changed was to stop keeping track of sugar, I eat a lot of fruit and yogurt and this all boosts my sugars and I was getting very discouraged, so I switched the sugar for fibre as I need to ensure I have more fibre than average so better for me to track that than sugar. Drinking the full 8 cups of water is important and more is better, always drink at least a cup before you eat. Most definitely when you have that urge to binge, go and do something, go for a walk, find a project that will distract you. Hope you won out yesterday.0

Peppermint tea helps and of course lots of water. I just started on here and have discovered (I think) the reason behind my years of binging problems. I simply don't eat enough. I have made an effort to eat more now. I was basically going days not eating enough and then binging all of the calories back and then some. An endless cycle of losing a few pounds gaining a few pounds and never understanding what the heck was wrong with me. I didn't do it on purpose, it was just naturally happening. I am glad I have a better understanding now.0

Hope everything worked out yesterday! I have a list taped to my fridge of things to do if I feel the urge to binge. Cravings usually last 5-20 minutes, so you can wait it out! Things like: drinking a glass of water or a mug of tea, chewing gum, brushing my teeth, cleaning the dishes, taking a nap, doing 100 jumping jacks, etc. Usually, by the time I do one or two of these things, the craving dies down.0

OMG, like loading up on oatmeal is the worst thing you can eat to try to stop your eating or hunger pains. Or at least for me it is. It's loaded with carbs, which spikes my insulin in the blood chemistry, which then leads to blocking my leptin hormone (the hormone responsible for sending back the " stop eating, you are full" signal to the brain.). On the advice of a lousy nutritionist, I used to eat oatmeal too, listening to the crap about how it's full of fibre and so on. But, it's loaded with carbs too, which blocked my leptin hormone and which sent me on a voracious hunger spell. Here's a site which really helped me learn about the insulin and leptin hormones. Www.dietdoctor.com. If you have the disposition I had, maybe this may help? I dunno, but thought I let you know just in case.0

I wonder if it's the time of year. I have not binged in so long, but the other day i found myself thinking about candy bars--recess butter cups, butter fingers, hershey bars-and it was all I could do not to go the market and buy one of each.
I haven't bought a candy bar in about 20 years. I don't even like candy that much.
In any event, it passed after awhile and meal time came around and I ate my dinner.
It sounds like you handled the situation in a way that was best for you.0
